hi
can any body help, i have a 53reg punto, my air bag lights are on, they have been on about a year, as anyone had the same problem, does anyone know weather this will be expensive to fix.
your advice will be apreciated.

I have a 2002 Punto and just had a new coil and new ECU fitted. The car seems to be running ok but since then the engine management light is flashing. The garage have tried re-setting it and have linked it to their computer but it says there are no fault codes and don't seem to know what to do next.
Any ideas?
I don't really want to have to take it to my Fiat garage because they charge so much.

Terri Anne your answer is an expensive one you have too choices
1. phone fiat and ask for a new master key you will need all the car details though aswell. this is expensive just for a key
2. get the immobilser removed from the car this is also expensive and you lose the safety aspect of having your car stolen as it can be started by a fiat key which isnt a master ket for that particualr car and immobiliser
hope this help you out both are very expensive options but id recomend #1 as you keep the immobiliser

hiya, ive recently bought a 2002 fiat punto and the airbag warning light is constantly on. ive been told it can be swithced off by fiddling with the wires under the driver seat but i can not find the wire! is their any other possible explanations as to why the light is on? and is it possible to trigger off the light by taking off the front of the steering wheel? id be rrreeeally grateful for any ideas. thanks

ive got exactly the same problem and ive been told there are a number of reasons the air bag light might be on...
1)your air bag has failed (obvious reason number 1)
2)there is a loose connection in the wiring under the seat
3)it has been triggerd off by sharp breaking
4)loose connection in the steering column
plus loads more but ive heard you have to get a garage to switch it off using a special computer which costs about £35 just to find out what the problem is?! im not sure if this helps and im no enginier, its just what ive been told by a few friends who are good with cars.

Of course, I spoke too soon. Car broke down. Waited the obligatory 15 or so minutes, car started. Took it back to the garage. Diagnostics returned ignition coil code (the car has two coils). I don,t understand that because the engine didn,t misfire, just cut completely out. When it did cut out , I did notice that a picture of a key and the word code underneath stayed on all the time I was trying to start the car. When the car eventually did start I noticed that the key and word code went out after a second or two after turning the key. I don;t know if that means anything but I have run out of ideas.

Hi. The picture you describe normally means that the ECU does not recognise the key so the immobiliser cuts in. It could be that if a coil did break down it confused the ECU I don't know. But if there is any doubt regarding the coil then replace it, there are tales of an ECU being blown by a coil breaking down and sending HT the wrong way.
Regarding the key code, try using a different key or if necessary use the red key, that will eliminate a key chip problem.

hi there, recently my car has has been shaking (it feels like its coming underneath me when in the drivers seat) and slightly rattling, and the injection system light is starting to show up more frequently on my dash. The problem mainly happens when im sitting in traffic and not moving, the longer im not moving the more it rattles and the symbol will come up. on a number of occasions i have had to turn off and start up my car again. the car is a punto 1.2 litre year 2000. Yesterday i put in fuel and injection system cleaner from the petrol station, but doesnt seem to have had any affect. please can someone help, i would be very greatful. kind regards ryan.

If it is shaking it is probably due to a missfire, in which case it needs to be sorted asap. Find a local independant garage, which has been recommended, avoid main dealers unless you want to take out an overdraft.

BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS - can anyone advise if they have had the same problem - my brake light (handbrake) comes on when I go round corners - mainly right hand sided ones for some reason, and if I brake too heavily (doesnt always come on until ive reached a stop and then deciides to give me a flash) I've had it checked out by more than one garage, who said my brake pads/shoes/discs/fluid level are all fine ????
Any advice would be welcome ! Thanks x

Hi. Get the fluid level and sensor checked again, also wiggle the handbrake lever with the engine running and the handbrake off to see if the switch is faulty.
If this fails then check the pad wear sensor wires are not frayed or broken.

Hi there
I have a Fiat punto M reg which has just started to display a warning light that I dont know what it means. It looks like an upside down lightbulb with spray coming out, it on the right hand side with the oil and battery warning lights. Can anyone help as i am worried if its safe to drive?

Hi. That light normally means there is a fault with the engine management, take it to your local independant garage and get them to check the fault codes.

we have a fiat punto sporting that cuts out when you move the gear stick across to reverse and also when driving (but not as much) I am going to get a diognostics check. but it would be great if anybody had any ideas
