Check the fuses.
Thats' me again with my Punto and my Faulty Powersteering (electric) I still cannot get the steering shaft as it is not still available in Egypt I have to order it from abroad , Anyway still surviving , I noticed strange issue with my Punto today , some time ago i used to get the Yellow warning lamp ( indicating the faulty bulb ) comes on when depressing the break pedal , but really rarely i get it on ( maybe once or twice every week ) so i thoght i have a bad bulb , luckily as i was parking my car today and have a morror behind , i got the lamp yello lamp on when i pressed the break but when i saw the lamps behind ( in the mirror ) I found that this is a falce signal and all bulbs working OK . do i have problem , i got the rear lights cleaned ( for that reason ) before i have the power steering problem , may you advise me , if there is any relation between the power steering problem and this false signal , or i'm starting a new problem , how can i solve the false singnal issue , can i solve the powersteering problem accordingly ? NB when i turn the ignision key to on ( without runing the engine ) i got the engine control signal and power steering signal on for 5 secods aprox then booth comes off ( in this stage when i press the p/s switch i can get the city signal on/off , the when i start running the enginge the p/s signal comes on (lights ) and i cannot gel the city signal changed ( all these cases the p/s is still not working ) if i leave the ignision to on without running the engine till signal is off ( p.s lamo off ) and i move the steering wheel continously to slight left and right and get the engine run the lamop doesnot come on but p/s id heavy (not working ) just when o stop this moves the light comes on does those cases mean anything new to my case pls advise
btw may u advise which fuse is the one for p/s also can anyone help to know the fuse index i don't have the manual and cannot know what is conneted to each fuse best regards

I have recently purchased a 1997 Fiat Punto. It doesn't have an owners handbook wtih it so there a few things I am unsure about ( I am trying to buy one from everywhere). I have a light on the left hand side, when I brake. It looks like headlamps and has the word STOP above it...what is this a warning light for???
I have a y reg fiat Punto and the same thing has just happened, the steering wheel light and city light stay on and the steering has become almost impossible to move...I have been quoted £675+ to fave this fixed...too much! As the car is only 4 years old, 12000 miles on the clock, is this a fault with the the computer which should surely last longer. Advice welcome
Could this be a loose connection, my suspicions (and I hope) that it is not a big/expensive problem. has anybody else experianced this???
If you bought the car from a trader then take it back, he has a legal obligation to correct faults with the car
I phoned the trader about the problem over week ago and he booked it into a garage for me. But because the problem is intermittant and the light wasn't on at the time the mechanic could not find a fault. He linked it up to some sort of device which read no problems at all and he said he check the wires for loose connection (not sure if he did cause he didn't have the car for very long!!??). Spoke to the chap I bought the car off last night but it was a bad line on the mobile then we couldn't get connected. He still hasn't called me back - think he is just trying to fob me off now because I didn't take out a warranty. But I do think this is a problem he should sort with or without warranty as it was obviously a problem with the car before I bought it. Do you agree?
I am not 100% sure of this fact but a call to your local CAB or Trading standards should clarify this. With the reputation of steering faults with later Fiats it would be advisable to get it repaired ASAP before you are liable. It would also be a good idea to buy a warranty also, or buy a car which suffers from cheaper faults !
I've got the manual at home but don't want to risk the drive if it's something serious. Thanks.
My p/s light comes off now and the p/s is working in booth CITY and normal mode , I've lost the p/s for a whole month aprox Plz advise
