Hi. I am sure Bill means well, but you should never ignore any warning lamps on your car, it may just be a blip in the system or a sensor giving an incorrect reading. this can lead to an increase in fuel consumption. Fiats are also famous for the coils going which can also take out the ECU so to carry on regardless is not a good idea. Go and find a local garage and ask them to check for fault codes and if there is a fault then please get it fixed. After all WARNING lamps are called so for a reason.

Hi, Thanks for the advice! The warning light has gone off now! I phoned the garage where I bought it and he said I could take it in anytime and their mechanic will check it out.

Well it is best to do so, at least that way, you have proof of an existing fault if it recurs after the warranty period.

Hi there. i recently bought a fiat punto 03 reg. I got it from a garage in ferryhill called the carshop. I got warranty on it and when i got it home the radiator was leaking, this cost me £96. The break caliber was bent, this was another £20. I rang the carshop who i bought it off they refused to help just tried fobbing me off, telling me i was not covered. I then found the car started pulling back when i was driving it and eating the petrol. Also it would not move in the morning. I took the car to a trusted garage and found that it was the lambda sensor 2. It cost me £69. Hopefully i will not have any more problems with it.

has the car stopped drinking the petrol and how much did the car cost you,for a small fee we will go and ask the garage man nicely if you still have warrenty,as it was stated you had warrenty by the seller if you want this action please let us know regards bill

hi there just replying to the message about the warrenty yes the car does have the warrenty i only bought the car a week ago. The warrenty is for a month. Im getting the lamda sensor fitted today as the car it cutting out now when i use it. i will get back to you.

I`ve had the lamda sensor fitted and it cost me £60. The car is running great for now. The carshop I bought the car off is refusing point blank to reimburse me for any of the three items. The garage I got it fixed at has rang the carshop and he has been told the same.

Hi. Just contact your local trading standards about it, but there is a procedure you should follow if you are trying to claim on a warranty, it doesn't look like you have followed this though.

hey,was just wundring if anyone had problems with there punto not starting.its in the garage now,but having problems with it.tried new coil packs,the starter motors fine but its not getting fuel to the engine and its not the fuel pump.any ideas?think it may be the ecu.thanks.

This warning light is for excessive engine temperature, check the sender unit first as it's the cheapest fix. The sender wire may have just become disconnected or the sender may be faulty? Is this light on ALL the time?

If the sparks are ok check the impact fuel cut off switch has not tripped out.
If no sparks does the key code light go on then off after 2 secs?, if yes then check crankshaft sensor.

have a look at break fluid level if its ok your pump is on its way out thats all it can be

mine comes on to i was told its the coil packs i put new ones on also new plugs and leads now i still have same prob when u put your foot down it pulls back now the aa recon it needs to be reset by pluging in to a pc if this dont work i got a lake very close and thats where its *!#%!@ going hope this helps !

What about P1170 - Mixture ratio [Minimum lean fuel] error code.
Before I buy a new lambda sensor, what else could generate this error?
