Hi elli may and leigh! thank you so much for the effort you went to to answer my question! really kind of you! youve put my mind to rest! My little punto is going to the garage on saturday to have its bulbs changed.... and no i dont think i will adopt another!! ;) xx

my 2006 fiat punto keeps cutting out intermittingly i took it to fiat dealer who couldnt find anything wrong now it is struggling to start any suggestions?

my 2006 fiat punto keeps cutting out on a regular basis i took it to my fiat dealer who gave it a diagnostic check and couldnt find anything wrong now it is failing to start until after several attempts HELP!!

HI,WISH I COULD HELP,I HATE PUNTO'S CANT SELL MINE ,I THINK PUNTO'S HAVE LOT OF BAD FAULTS ,I NOW HAVE A TOYOTA YARIS SEEMS TO BE GOOD ,MY PUNTO JUST TAKES UP SPACE ON DRIVE FEELING SORRY FOR ITSELF.

Hey you said about your breaks being soft is that softer than normal or in general soft because fiat punto's have been known to have very spongy brakes mine especially the clutch problem could be that the actual gear that engages the clutch could be worn out and will need replacing, i believe there were a few items in that list that weren't necessary however i have no experience in maintenance although i don study the engine and pieces and im only 17 so don't go and complain just because I said so Hope this helps Andy

Since my last post apart from cutting out the power steering has failed and the lights cut out and it is struggling to start been to two garages who cant find anything wrong .suggestions please

My Engine management light came on i went thru a series of checks to avoid taking it to a dealers to get diagnosis. The check that cleared it was :- i removed the rubber hose to the PCV valve and this was blocked with gunge. I cleaned it out and replaced it and took my car down the road and the light disappeared.. Steve

Hi My Fiat Punto Mk2 keeps making a high pitched screeching sound when i turn the wheel to the right, When its centred or turning to the left the noise is not there!? Also the Brakes seem to be screeching alot too, I've only done the Front brakes about 1000 miles back, prob have to do the rear ones? Anyone any idea on the high pitched screeching sound coming from the wheels when i turn the steering wheel to the right? Any help would be appreciated??

This is my 1st post, please be gentle! :o)Ive been having a read through this thread because my Punto (52 plate Active 1.2 8V petrol) seems to be having a few problems! Im abit annoyed to be honest as its hardly done any mileage (which I know isnt always a good thing!) but 16,000miles, is taking the
biscuit! :o) The other day, as I was driving home, the whole car started to shake and seemed to lose speed and power! Although I wasnt going very fast at the time, I was on a busy main road, so was quite daunting. I pulled over and noticed that the amber fuel injection/engine light was on. I turned the engine off for a few secs and then restarted it but no different, car sounded like a tractor and was still juddering. It managed to limp very slowly, to a safer area but had to call for recovery assistance. To top it off, the battery had gone flat by the time they arrived because my hazards were on for so long! I know most people would advise that I take it to a Fiat dealer to get it diagnosed but Ive had previous dealings with then and dont feel that theyre mechanics are very good quality, more slap-dash. While the car was under warranty then I didnt really have a choice but now I prefer to use a reliable local mechanic!
Garage receptionist has just phoned and said that theres no power getting to the coils so it might be the ECU but would like to wait for the main mechanic/owner to look at it to get a further opinion as its a very expensive part (£350+VAT) and they don't want to just fit it in the hope that it will fix the problem. At that price, neither do I! :o) I dont know one end of a car from another and can just about change my tyres & bulbs and charge the battery, so have to rely on a mechanic to do the complicated stuff! (typical female! Hehe) Hoping that its not the ECU as its definitely an expense I could do without but if anyone has any other suggestions (other than a scrap merchants!) then Id be very grateful! just got my n reg punto 55 back from the garagehad the injection warning light on and the shuddering and loss of power that seems to be common on here except, i have a NEW cause to add to the list of potentials the ignition leads were all different, none of them for my car apparently, and one of them had a fault and was arcing combine that with knackard spark plugs and apparently the throttle was caked in carbon so had to be stripped down lets hope that clears it, so far so good

I agree with TERRIERS AUTOS, I too have done many Fiat heads but never had any problems.Facing is very important even if you do not change the bolts.It has to be a mirror finish or else you will have trouble.When buying head gaskets I ask for specific brands.Here in my country we have hot summers so engines tend to heat up more, but as I said before make sure that facing the head is most important.

Well i have fell out of love with my little Punto any body want to buy her,y reg low mileage need mot tax,Stupid engine management light is on but she runs sweet had diagnostic tests done on her and no fault could be found had some work done to her spent lots money and refuse to spend any more at fiat to take light off ,I have now got Yaris more suited to me.
