Hi. It sounds like it is either a bad connection under the steering column or your steering unit is on its way out . Try BBA-REMAN.COM they do recon units.

Hi. Check you have the correct bulbs fitted the correct way round (if they are twin filament bulbs) This is the most common fault. Regarding the steering, wiggle the wires under the steering column with the engine running, to see if the fault is due to a connection fault. Watch out for any airbag wiring !!!!!!

My engine management light went off after a couple of days and hasn't come back on again. Do you think this means that the fault has rectified itself or do you think I should still take it to a garage to have the underlying code read?

Hi. It would be best to get the codes read, there is always the chance that whatever made the light come on will fail.

Hi,
This warning light is telling you that one of your brake (or "STOP") lights is not working.
It usually just means that the bulb has gone.
Hope this helps.

Hi, I recently noticed a warning light on which looked liked a hand-brake warning light but i've been told that it's not. The symbol is an exclamation mark in a circle with brackets outside. anybody any idea what this might be???? I topped up the brake fluid and it seemed to disappear for awhile but then came back which might suggest that the fluid is leaking but it isnt as i checked. Any help would be great, thanks

Help please ! I have a 2000 Punto and the power steering light came on a few weeks ago. Took it to Fiat and they quoted £550 to replace the steering column. On the way home , the p/s came back on again, but since then it has gone off and come on again erratically. The fact that it works some of the time suggests to me that it's an electrical fault rather than a mechanical one. But I know nothing about cars so not very confident in this assessment. Definitely not keen to part with £550 until I have pursued cheaper options. Also the car has done 40,000 miles and the bodywork is far from pristine. Is it worth getting it fixed, or am I likely to encounter other notorious Fiat problems at this stage in the car's life?
I was really interested to hear that other people have had similar problems. Tried to look for the wires under the steering column as sugggested but bit nervous to poke around without really knowing what I was doing. Would an independent garage be able to take a look at the wiring for me?
Your comments would be appreciated!

Hi..... can anyone offer me any advice please, I just been told by fiat that I need a new motor assembly for my fiat punto Y reg, at a total cost of £595.00!!! I read through some of the posts and was just wandering has anyone managed to buy the part cheaper and have it fitted by an independant mechanic. Also is it possible that the warning light is a loose connection or something to do with a fuse ( I can live in hope!). Any response would be much appreciated.

Hia. A warning light (looks like a red circle) has just appeared on my Fiat Punto (1996). It's on the fuel guage to the left of the dashboard, directly above the orange warning light that comes up for more fuel. Any uideas what it might mean?

I was wondering weather someone could help me with my X reg fiat punto!! Last Wednesday I hit a stone in the road and bust my wheel as I phoned my break down company I switched the hazards on! I was picked up and was taken to a local garage I bought a new wheel etc I drove out the garage but there was a problem! I now have no lights (only side lights), indicators, windscreen wipers, city button, hazard lights, back demystifies. The car starts and runs ok the blower inside also works but the main electrics don’t. I have taken the car down to a local scrap dealer and swapped the fuse board inside and under the bonnet and also swapped the hazard light panel on the dashboard, they did think because my hazard lights were on so long its damaged or even burnt something in the fuse box, but this is ruled out now as we changed it! has anyone else experienced this problem? can you advise us on anything because its getting very frustrating!
