Hi
I've had my Y Reg Punto for almost a year now and for the last six months have been having a problem with it. It keeps having to be jumped...one minute it will be fine and the next it will need to be jumped, then will work fine. I have taken it to garages and have just had it MOT'd and serviced and they haven't found anything wrong with it!! Do you know what it could be???

may need a new battery or the leads need to be tightened,or starter motor on its way out,Hey what do i know im only a woman lol,gona put stick of dynamite up my punto's exhaust pipe if she don't sell. I HATE PUNTO'S.

i have alight that keeps on coming on in my fiat its like a hose spraying dwn and its red and then after that the engine cuts out but will again after trying a few times please help me out only had the car 3 days its a 1.6 1996 N reg

Hi there!!!I am having serious issues with my 2001 fiat punto... As im driving along the road all the lights in the dash come on for abs no reason, then the petrol and speedometer needles go down to zero and then bounce back again.... then the car cuts out and the steering goes so i cannot turn the wheel... i have narrowly missed oncoming traffic a few times!!! Please please can somebody give me some advice as the garage i have taken too is useless and says that they dont know what it wrong with it - they didnt even try to bluff and rip me off!!!! Any help much appreciated!!!!

hi,this is a big common fault with fiat ,Best thing get rid stay away from French cars,If you take to fiat garage they will rip you off,I hate them.

best get rid,i hate them,So many having same problems,I think these cars are dangerous and should be called back,thousands are having same problem,Im getting rit of mine.x

check your battery leads and that alll the wiring is secure also all the fuses are a tight fit and there are two keys to the fiats so make sure you are using the blue key,i shall check further as your asu box could be faulty,it is a matter of elimanation,re bill.

sounds like the lights ,have you checked all lights working,could be just a fuse, if i see the right pic in the book.

Hi all,I had the same issue where the EML was coming on, i am lucky enough to have a mechanic next door who plugged his diagnostics in and we found 2 faults. The Fan 1 had blown and also it said the Cat was producing below the required standard. Having looked further at the fan the weight on the fan had come loose and was trapping the fan stopping it from turning and thus blowing the fuse, the reason that the cat error appeared is because apparently the fan and the car appear on the same 30amp fuse/circuit (cant remember which one). Anyway, all fixerd for now.I know FIAT would have charged me loads to read it and just taken the codes for gospel and made me buy a new cat when i didnt need one!! I count myself lucky! :)

hi,you was lucky.
I had all the tests paid lots of money,Still never seen any problem with it,Sold now as seen,I lost a lot of Time and money and would never by this make of car again.

I would be grateful for some help, I bought a 2003 Fiat Punto a while ago, hadn't had any problems til the last two weeks when the car has stalled twice on breaking (normal breaking), both times the electrics have disappeared, then it wouldn't restart...I broke down at the end of a dual carriageway just about to pull out on to a roundabout on Monday in the rush hour! The garage has tried on two occasions (fortnight apart) to diagnose the problem, I think they have been pretty thorough but they couldn't find a problem....I've read lots of the threads, but not sure if its the same fault as a lot of people have had (don't understand some of the jargon)...

Can anyone help me with the following problem, i have a 2002 fiat punto which has an intermittant fault as it goes from misfiring and dropping power to running perfectly fine. It has had a new ecu, coil packs, ht leads and spark plugs and it is still no better! Any suggestions would be apprteciated, thanks

Hi. It could possibly be an injector or wiring fault, have you checked all the earth connections on the engine ?

Hi Did you get your engine management light sorted ? my engine management light sporadically comes on and goes off i plugged it into the fault code reader (we have quite a high tech Bosch one) at college and it told me that the fault was with the Lambda sensor... i will be checking the wiring going to it and if that is ok i will replace the sensor a price from cats2Go.co.uk is £31.01 plus vat and postage which = £48.57

Hi Steve, make sure it is an OE fit lambda and not a universal one, with the universal ones you have to cut your old wire and join it to the new sensor. not an ideal thing where it is likely to be exposed to water ingress.
