Hi there. I have a 13 year old bridle and white girl. She is the love of my life, she is the most sweetest dog I have ever met. She does sleep alot and cuddles into me whenever I sit down shes on my lap. She has a tumour in her mamory gland and its getting quite big, I take her to the vets once a month to get her checked out as I don't want her to suffer. If she was alot younger I would have had it cut out but the vet said she could die under the operation at this age so just to leave it. I am going to be so upset when she goes, she is my life. My children who are 23 and 21 think I love her more than them. I cook her steak and chicken and spoil her rotten. I have put my name down with a breeder for their next lot of puppies in June/July as I feel she wont be with us for much longer. Her name is Tasha but we call her all sorts of pet names. She isn't very good with bigger dogs like German Shepherds and Labradors but friends of ours has a cocker spaniel and she is brilliant with her. Please let me have more details of your bullies. I love hearing about them.

Hi Emma. We have always had to watch Tasha's weight, alot of people say to us that she is huge but to me shes perfect. She will ask for anything and everything that we eat and I feel so sorry for her that I give it to her. There little faces are so sweet, alot of people don't like these sort of dogs and say that they are ugly but I reckon they are beautiful. Do you get people cross the road when they see you coming because they are scared of her. We get it quite a bit and it makes me laugh, or if someone knocks on our front door and she happens to wonder out people just back up the path scared stiff. Does your bullie bark much, Tasha only barks when we let her out for her last wee of the night about 10 oclock and I think because its dark shes just letting people know she is there but other than that she doesn't bark at all. I am in work at the moment and pop home at lunchtime to give her some biscuits and let her out and she hasn't moved from when I left this morning at 8.30 she is in the same position. My husband works shift work so hes home alot with her and she follows him around until I get home and then its me she follows. I think if you got another one it would get on fine. Speak to you soon - Julie

Hi Emma. Sorry I haven't replied sooner but I have been busy in work this morning. I could imagine that person falling into the hedge to get out of the way. We always get chatting to people when we are out with Tasha, its so nice. Is there anyway I could send a picture of Tash to you and you to send one of Trixie to me?

Hello I have a one year old bull terrier called Mungo (aka pinky snout!). I had wanted a bull terrier since i was 8 years old and now, 20 years later i finally get one. He is black and white and i wouldnt swap him for the world. He is such a loving dog but as soon as other people come to the house he turns into a maniac, jumping up and tugging on jumpers. Also on his walks he squeals at people if they dont show him any intertest. I think he just wants to be the center of attention all the time. I have been trying to find a local dog class to take him too to try and calm him down but i havent had much luck. If anyone has any advice then please let me know. As i said, at home he is briallant with me but i dont want other people to think he is a vicious dog as i he really isnt.

WOW! What an animal. 7 yrs ago my wife wanted a dog for our family. I was hesitant but told her to do her homework for a dog that would fit our family. She picked a bullie. I was not happy about the cost ($900) for a 9 wk brindle bullie in Chicago from Sinabar Breeders. I was ugly about it. "I don't want poop in the yard, messes in the house, etc!" When I first laid eyes on her I FELL IN LOVE. She took to me like I was her mother. She slept on my lap as I drove 8 hrs back home. She loves everyone. Gets along with our cats. Has an unbelievable sense of humor & is incredibly intelligent & obedient. I can do anything to her. Brush her teeth, clip her nails, wash her just like washing a car. Nothing bothers her. Loud music, loud motorcycle, you name it. She just wants to be with her family in every activity. I am a bullie for life & had no problems with puppyhood whatsover. She was family & what ever was torn up, accidents on the carpet, didn't matter. She's our 3rd child & has taught our family how precious animals are. Sorry for such a wordy message but I could go on & on. She does the funniest things & I will be devastated when she goes to doggy heaven. A bullies life expectancy is short compared to dogs that are not purebred. Her name is Tipper & she's my baby...

Hi Alan, I'm sorry to say that we had her spayed when she was 6mos old. We knew that we only wanted her for our household pet & did not want to deal with doggy hormones & the rest that would come with it. She treats me like I'm her baby, however, she treats me as Alpha male & the almighty doggy God. She gets very jealous if anyone shows special attention to me or vice versa. She doesn't get violent but she lets us know of her displeasure. It's a riot. Tennis ball games are her favorite. Even though I'm her baby & Alpha male, I think it's so cool that when the kids & their friends are around, I don't exist. She thinks she's one of the kids. If they don't pay enough attention to her she gets upset & chases her tail. She knows she will be told not to & will regain attention when scolded. She really has more personality than many people I know. Right now I'm working in Mexico & am away 3 weeks at a time. A little trick that my wife & I play on her upon my return home is for me to slip in the backdoor of the basement & see how long it takes her to smell me & figure out that I'm home. She is usually asleep on her couch upstairs during the day. She is a terrible watchdog by the way, but it doesn't take long for her to realize that her Daddy is nearby. I hear a 27 kg plop from her jumping off the couch, or rolling off. Her collar jingles as she slowly makes her way down the steps. The thuds of her bouncing to & from each step gain speed as she gets closer. Once in the basement her nose goes into overdrive as I hide behind my drumset trying not to laugh with my wife looking on, smiling. When Tipper finds me, whatever is in the way gets knocked over, banged into, she runs back & forth & tries to tackle me & lick me to death. My wife loves to see my monthly greeting from Tipper... She said 7 years ago, "Timmy, she will be your dog, you just wait & see". And I replied, "Right", as I utter under my breath,'Í don't want no stinkin' dog". My wife is always right...

Life can be strange. How can a dog change a person? The same way as having a son or daughter. Not saying that an animal could rank with having your own child, of course not. Life is short & having children & pets change you for the better, at least for me. As a clean freak & a neatnik, I learned to deal with the imperfections of my atmosphere. Going from perfection to intentionally allowing a small handprint on the storm door left by my precious daughter. Not worrying about the chewed up wood work that was sanded & poorly repaired then repainted years ago, but the unique scars that remain remind me, "wow, I remember how small Tipper & the children were". They are growing up sharing their lives with a unique animal that they adore. And seeing how it mellowed out a somewhat uptight Dad in their early years. The hair on "her" couch, which before having a dog we agreed to be strict about animals on furniture etc. Now it's ok. It's hers & it makes me happy having her with us to mess things up. The love, the loyalty, the personality, the amusement & entertainment that she has provided, will always be in my memories down the road as one day my wife & I will look at each other & say, "I sure miss the kids & Tipper here to liven up the place". Remember when the kids came home from school & Tipper would always be asleep against the front door so when they opened it it would nudge her to wake her to let her know that it's fun time? My best friends are here to play with me! I'm sure that is what she was thinking...

I've been on the road for over a year. 3wks in Mexico & 1wk at home, which goes by like a flash in the pan. I miss my wife, my 14 yr old son, 11 yr old daughter, &... Tipper... When I'm down, she's there to cheer me up. To make me laugh. To make me say to myself, "why do I deserve all this attention?" To feel that taut hide, muscular body, to feel like I'm patting a thoroughbred. My thoroughbred. She's worth every penny spent. Emergency surgeries, fenced yard, vet bills, cost of repairs from puppyhood, food, it doesn't matter. I'll never forget my first bull terrier & I will be glad when this stint is over so I can be back with my family my baby, Tipper...

Hi Emma, I think it would be easier by my email address. Did you have a nice weekend? What did you and Trixie get up to. We tried to take Tasha out on Saturday morning but we had to drag her across the street and she started coughing so we were took her straight back inside and then she slept on the settee for the rest of the day. But on Sunday we took her out in the car and went to a place called Frenchay Common about 10 mins ride from our house and she had a good run round, a good sniff around and after about 15 mins she was looking back towards the car and telling us that was enough she wanted to go home so we went home. My parents and sister came over on Sunday afternoon so she was made a fuss of by them, she loves that.
