The way we let Tipper know that she has been bad it to shake a coffe can with coins in it. SHE ABSOLUTELY HATES IT! She instantly cowers when we just show her the can or we can just say "I'm going to get the can!" She fully understands language. "Bed time", she rolls off the couch & wanders downstairs to her crate. She was crate raised & finds it as a safe haven. I can say "bath time", she looks at me out of the corner of her eye thinking, I don't wanna a bath. But once she's in the tub she melts with all the rubbing & attention & she knows when it's over that it's snack time & tennis ball play time. That's her payment demand & if I don't pay up she lets me know.

Tipper hates cold weather but does like snow except when she has to go potty. She'll go to the edge of the driveway & as long as 1 or 2 paws is in the grass, she goes, usually on the driveway, ha ha. She's a hoot. Can't wait to see her Friday morn. That's when I return to Kentucky for 1 week. My wife says Tipper really misses me. Can't wait to pull my usual prank on her when I return.

Hi Alan. Yes, Tipper does miss me when I'm away but she is very content as long as her other "peoples" are there to pay attention to her. Of course she knows that no-one loves on her like her Daddy. That is something that I'm impressed with. That she copes well under circumstances that would cause other pets to be depressed & unhappy. Tipper is the only Bully that I have seen personally except at the breeders' in Chicago. I don't know of any others in Lexington Kentucky. I think it's so cool to drive into my neighborhood from work & see my son walking such a unique animal. When she sees me drive by them both she runs home leaving Allen behind to catch up with me. She runs sideways smiling from ear to ear & out of breath but tackles me like a rugby player. I love it. I never dreamed that an animal could change me as a person, especially for the better. She's made me more laid back & easy going. I'm not uptight about the house being dirty, etc. Life is too short for the small stuff. My kids will always remember their Tipper & how she enriched our lives in such a way that we never imagined. Bullies are special & unique animals. I've never met a dog with the personality of a bully. They're hilarious, sweet as can be, protective & infinitely loyal. WHAT A DOG! Thank you England for breeding such a dog that has changed my family's life forever.

Yes, we think she has facial traits of a pig, horse, shark & alligator. She doesn't bother our cats but sometimes makes them nervous & they scratch her nose. When she was small & my daughter was 6yrs old. Tipper had some scratches on her nose & Angela said, "Daddy, Tippers' beak is bleeding!" We thought that was funny. Does Trixie have any skin disorders or ear problems? Tipper seems to have many allergies & her ears bother her often. Her skin turns very red at times & she has much wax build up in her ears. She lets me clean them out without hesitation. We've tried prednisone for her allergies with limited success. It makes her lethargic. 5yrs ago at Christmas time, I found her near a broken glass ornament (looked like her tennis ball) with her tail tucked & ears back. I just knew that she had swallowed part of it. I was devastated & immediately rushed her to the vet for emergency surgery, no matter what the cost. The x-rays showed an object & I told them to do whatever had to be done. Found out that the object wasn't glass, thank goodness, but her favorite plastic toy that she had swallowed 2 years prior. Crazy dog. All's well with her though. She's tough but gentle.

Something else about the bull terrier's demeanor impresses me. It's that (at least w/Tipper) she is NEVER ever aggressive with other dogs. Instead she's submissive & lays down on her back, when approached. All she wants to do is make friends & play. However, once my wife took her to her brother's house & he has a German Short Haired Pointer, or something of the sort, & he attached her. She immediately became submissive but he kept at her. When she had all she could take she pounced & had him by the throat & on the ground. She would have bit his head clean off if my wife hadn't intervened. She was only protecting herself after being attached. Needless to say, he didn't mess with her ever again after that. Controlled power kept in check & only used as a last resort. AWESOME.

Well, made it home safe & sound Fri morn about 11. Sneaked in the back door & waited for Tipper to realize I was home. She didn't. Sound asleep on the couch probably dreaming about snacks. I had time to do my expense report & unpack (in the basement). Finally, I decided to blow my nose. I knew that would get her attention. Instantly she plopped to the floor & came bouncing down the steps as I hid in the closet which has a curtain covering the opening in which I could see through. She ran by me, tail wagging. Found my belongings. Thoroughly sniffed everything. Ran back upstairs. Ran back downstairs. Back upstairs & down again, frantic. As she searched she wined. I finally had to present myself before she had a heart attack. She was so delighted when she saw me. Unfortunately, it was too much for her though. She later vomited on the floor. I'm still working on the stain but it's ok. I'm glad to be home with my family.

Thanks for your message. I will try to be strong as we are thinking of taking her to the vets tomorrow as she has now lost so much weight as she is not eating hardly anything and her breathing sounds funny to me as well so if they suggest putting her to sleep I think it will be for the best. Its hard looking at her little face wondering if she is in pain. Roxy sounds lovely, have you any photo's of her? My email address is [Log in to view email] if you would like to send some.
