hi susan, welcome to the forum, yeah sounds like u have a typical bullie! GORGEOUS!!! im vicky and iv an ebt called alfie, i always get evil looks off people in the park and usually end up in a slanging match with people if they pass comment, which happens quite alot!!!!
Iv just replied to someone elses post on here about skin, and we had a few problems with alfie but nothing the vet gave us was working, someone i know who hasd owned bullies for yrs suggested we tried aqueous cream from the chemist, and i cudnt believe his skin cleared up within a couple of days!
Hope this is of some help!
Apparently some bullies ears dont stand up atall!! (only a small minority)
One of the girls off here saucy sam has a bullie called arry and his ears have never stood up! Although u cud try massaging them, i heard it can work!!! good luck xxxx

Hi Vicky. Love your picture of you and your kids. That aqueous cream is brilliant, I had that when I scolded my leg a few years ago its so cheap but brilliant. When Millys skins flares up in Sept I will definately use this, I forgot I still have half a pot in my cupboard. My daughter asked if we could look after this little staffie called Rocky while its owner goes on holiday and I said yes sure if it gets on with Milly OK well we had him round last night and he hasn't been neutured so all he wanted to do was hump Milly and she wasn't having any of it, he also pooed in my hallway so I dont really want to have him but my daughter is keeping on so dont know what to do. i love all dogs i really do but there are certain breeds that need a firm handeler recently i was at a dog show with my collie cross and there was a bull terrier that was on a harness and the owners could not control it! this appauld me as it was nearly getting in to fights and was going for every dog!

they probably are good pets and nice dogs but this one was ruined by its owner!!

hi s.mitchell, i agree with you totally that an ebt needs very firm handling as they will run rings round you givren the chance. Although it is very unusual to find english bulls who try and fight with other dogs, obviously there is going to be certain ones like in all dogs who if not socialised properly will be dog agressive. To be honest ebt's can get very over excited and people can misread this as agression. For example my ebt gets himself very worked up whilst out on walks and can be very vocal, he squeels and barks for a while untill he has been out for about 15 mins then he quietens down!
My ebt absolutly loves other dogs and people and i would trust him completly with my kids and any kids who come to my house!!
When people pass comment on english bull terriers it is usually through ignorance and lack of knowledge, so i would always advise these people to do there research before they judge!!!
I agree that it is certain scallys and young idiots who own these dogs and give them a bad name, and this infuriates me as my ebt is usually the one who gets bitten by these little rat dogs ie terriers
Thanx 4 ur comments and i hope you will try and take some of my comments on board when you next see an ebt out and about!
vicky xx

Yeah the aqueous cream is amazing, i was so shocked and so chuffed when it worked as it is so cheap and id spent a fortune on the vets!!!

Hi Vicky

Here Here! I totally agree with you, it does upset when i see people who can't conrol their dogs as their the ones who if in a situation could get nasty! Especially a ebt! People should do their research and understand the breed!

Vinni doing much better with the nipping he hardly does at all now only when his over excited! Like today i came back from shopping and had left the back door open for him like i usually do and when i come in he usually runs in to greet me but today he didn't so i looked in the garden and couldn't see him so called him and still nothing so panick begun to set in as i thought he'd escaped and was gone! Then i heard him whinning but it was coming from next door so i looked over the wall as it's only about 4ft high and there he was sitting in the neighboughs garden the little sod! Don't know how he got in there as he can't jump the wall just yet, so all i can think of is he found his way around the back of the shed through all the brambles and pushed a fence pannel through! Luckily enough she's elderly and doesn't go out in the garden that much as he probably knocked her flying! He was so pleased to see me but couldn't get back through and was starting to panick! so i managed to entice him to stand on a flower pot and put his to front feet on the wall and i managed to haul him back over the heavy lump he is! Was a funny sight let me tell ya!!! He was so relieved and gave me lot's of bully cuddles, then he started to nip the little sod but i controlled the situation and was just glad was back!!

How's things with you? Hope your all well!

bye for now

Hi Susan welcome to the forum. I'm Claire and have an ebt called Vinni who's 8 months old i love him to bits! Haven't come across ant skin probs with him yet! I had a staffie a few years ago now who had skin probs used to get bald patches on her face which slowly moved down her body the vet done screening and found that it wes a parasite that had been passed down through the mother when the pups suckle thats why it starts on the face she used to have a steroid injection once a month which helped and it then it gradually started to not flare up so often but we had to move so was unable to keep her because it was unsuitable so i gave her to my sister in law so i still see her regulary and her skin is so much better and flares up now and again she still has the steroid injection but only about 3 times a year now! She was a great dog and still is! Let me know how Hector gets on and what the vets say. Have you got any pics of him would love to see them?

Take care

Hi Susam,
I have an 8 year old white EBT and she has a very strong skin allergy: she gets first lots of spots that end up with blood and an awful smell. We have tried everything (Blood test, skin samples, changing the diet). The only thing that works is giving her 80 mg of Marbocyl for 20 days and bath her with Malaseb shampooevery 2/3 days till her condition improves. Finally we come across the reason for the allergy when she had an allergy test done and all the results were between 0 and 4 and she got a 680 against fleas, since them she get frontline every 20 days and she is fine. The vet told me that if she just goes 2 meters away from a flea she will have a reaction. The good news is that after you get the allergy test they can vaccinate them against their allergy (my dog will have this done in August).
I hope this helps!!! ?

Hi Vicky. Well said. I dont why hes telling us - why not approach the owner of the ebt that he reckons was being nasty. I know Huskys can be nasty we have one by us and she cant take it out without a muzzel on because it cant be trusted. Julie

hiya all,
i am so sorry i havnt been on for a while but with the course, kids and dogs i have been very busy.
i have now passed my course and have a little time again so now can come and have a chat with all my lovely bullie friends.
so how is everyone? how are all your babies?

i can not believe how many posts i have missed i have just sat and read them all and oh my goodness there is someone on here complaining about the breed (what the hell is that all about) if you dont like the breed s.mitchell then please dont bother to come on this forum and complain and as for the ebt who was funny, not all of them are like it and just because this perticular dog was being horrible and the owner looked like they were on drugs doesnt mean to say that all the owners of ebt's that dont like other dogs are on drugs as i am a very respectable person, mother and ebt owner and would never touch drugs (i very rarely drink) but my dogs are very funny with other dogs, so that comment is very untrue.

anyway my moan over.....lol

love to all the rest of you though and big xxxxxxxxxxx's to you all,
take care,
love sam, bailey and arry.

hi susan,
my name is sam and i am owned my 2 ebt's bailey and arry,
i just wanted to let you know that my arry's ears have never gone up and yes i was told he suffered from soft ears but it really does not cause a problem to him and he is just as lovable and is loved just as much as he would if his ears went up so i wouldnt worry about it to much if they dont.

all the best,
sam, bailey and arry. xxxxx

Hi Sam. Good to have you back. How are Bailey and Arry doing? I will try and give you a call for a chat sometime when I get some free time. Work has been really busy late. Went to our caravan last weekend and had a lovely time Milly enjoyed herself chasing rabbits and squirls outside of our caravan, went on some nice long walks over the cliffs plus a run round on the beach, the only trouble this time of year is that you cant let them off the lead between 10 and 6 so its a pain as Milly loves it off of the lead, she had her cocker spaniel friend Meg to play with and also there were 3 puppy jack russlls she was playing with. hi julie, thanks for your reply, we live in lincoln lincolnshire,I will get my hubby to put a photo of hector on the site.I am thinking about getting hector a playmate, male of course, but struggling to think of a breed, too small he would knock over, but not sure, would love another bully, but not sure on what age to get a pup, or one a couple of years old, so at least when he goes for walks he will have a mate, anyway will let you know how things go sue

Hi Susan. Do you see many other ebts in Lincoln? That will be nice to get Hector a playmate, I would like another but I look after friends dogs and I think it would be a bit much plus my hushand wont let me have another. Next week I have our friends pitbull for 3 weeks, Milly gets on brilliantly with him he is so soft hasn't got a nasty bone in his body but when you tell people he is a pitbull they seem to back off and panic. Look forward to seeing a pic of Hector (love his name) I bet it suits him. Have a nice weekend. Julie

Hi All

I've just read all the recent posts after leaving my first one about Nero's skin problem the other day and it's so lovely to hear from all you guys who are as mad about bullies as I am!

Thanks for your help Julie and Vicky. I've just started Nero on the James Wellbeloved food which he loves (so does my cat who keeps nicking it out of his bowl!) - the man at my local pet store gave me a very good price on a big bag of it to start him off because the bag was a bit battered. I'll also bear the Tesco's own dry food in mind in case it gets too expensive. I've also bought some Sudocrem and will try that as well as the aquaeous cream which I found out is the same stuff I use for my eczema so Nero and I are sharing it. I'll let you know how I get on. Sorry to hear that Hector also has a skin problem Susan. Nero's sounds similar to what you and Virginia describe: lumps which get sore and weep. My vets told me that's it some sort of infection under his skin. I just checked Nero for fleas based on what you said Virginia but can't see any.

I'm in Bristol too Julie and Nero's head looks very like your Milly's - he's obviously a boy bullie though so I guess Milly's body is different. Claire: I thought your story about Vinni escaping was hilarious - what a naughty boy - I've had similar experiences with Nero - one time I was in tears and absolute despair because he'd escaped and I couldn't find him anywhere and eventually found him at a street party up the road in amongst everyone dancing and chewing drink cans! I wanted to tell him off but was so relieved to see him that I just hugged him... Nero also does that trancing/ghosting thing - quite often by staring at me totally still for quite sometime without realising it until I snap him out of it.

Lots of bullie love to all
Kate xxxx

Hi Kate. What part of Bristol are you, I live in Filton. Perhaps we could meet up. Glad Nero likes the James Wellbeloved, it is expensive but I think its worth it. My other ebt used to get lumps that wept and we never found out what it was, I hope Milly's skin dont end up like that. Bullies are the best. Julie

Hi Julie
I live in Cotham just off Gloucester Rd by the arches. Would be great to meet up. Nero gets on really well with other dogs and has a great temperament. He's never even growled at another dog and just wants to play! He looks the business but is a big baby really. He hasn't been done though because at some point I would like to stud him (to keep the line going and all that...). If this isn't a problem it would be lovely to meet up and see you and Milly - I love meeting other bullies and so does Nero. Milly looks lovely.
