Should probably have referenced the original post.......... see below --------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi everyone. I've got a problem. I've got a 1991 Talbot Express Kon Tiki, and whilst travelling uphill a red light on the dashboard, to the right of the main cluster, came on and has remained on. It has no symbol unlike the other warning lights. I've had a mechanic look over it, but has yet to find anything wrong. Can anybody help me? Thanks in advance. Bob
The original post does not state if it is diesel or petrol but we will assume its diesel the red light to the right of the cluster is the turbocharger high pressure indicator, to check from the top of the inlet manifold a small diameter rubber pipe to a three way connector one to the injector pump the other to the pressure switch disconnect the wires to the switch and check that the light goes out if so itÂ’s a faulty switch. (The hand book sates the light will blink to indicate abnormal operation consult an authorised dealer at the earliest opportunity,) I would think cause of this is the butterfly on the waste gate is not operating correctly ie seized or the valve is not opening hope this helps
many thanks kevin

tha black streaks are caused by the oxidisation that forms on the roof panels, you need to clean & polish the roof, that will lower the amount of streaking, & they do a cleaning product that stops it as well which you can put on after you have cleaned it . Regards Rich
Thanks for that. Do you have more detail on that cleaner? Is it very effective? You say the oxidisation is from the roof but the streaks seem to be down from any body part, I guess that is where the roof water meets and obstruction and produces a streak. Regards Chris
the streaks do form from where the water runs or hits a object, with fiberglass roofs which are Gell coated you just need a gell coat polish, same as on boats, with aluminum roofs & or sides which are painted a standard car wax will do, but do not use any wax which has a cutting formulation as the ally painted parts only have a thin coat of paint. Most caravan dealers can supply you with what you need. Regards Rich
ive got a fiat ducato camper 1983 2L petrol took it out the weekend all ok on the way home pulling up to a round about it was spluttering until it reached high revs it has had recent new fitted spark plugs any one have any ideas thanks Adverts Currently On Preloved - Place an ad here for free
Change your points & condensor , my guess is the points are burnt out, other thing that goes without warning & causes a missfire is the dizzy cap top pin. Regards Rich
thanks matt
I'm currently in the process of buying a Talbot Express 1300 Pilote. I was wondering if anyone had a full service recently and how easy it is to get one? Can most garages perform them or is it quite a niche market? Looking forward to hearing back, Thankyou! Tom
Any garage can do it , providing they have a lift that will take the Van. A Pilot is wider than standard Van & is fitted with a rear chassis , so it will be a case of finding a garage that can take its size & weight, best to find a MOT place that can MOT it as they will also be able to service it. Ref the inside gas part , you have to find a caravan dealer to carry out that service & yearly check. Regards Rich
Hope you do not mind me intruding but you seem to be very conversant with engines. I have a peugeot talbot express 2498 cc diesel engine on a coach built motorhome, first registered in 1987, now approx 60,383 miles on the clock. Have had a problem for the last 10 years which my garage has put down to a "virus" in the fuel tank. On his advice we have added WYN 65530 triple action marine bio. In spite of this the tank has been cleaned out at least 3 times- has been at garage for last 6 weeks awaiting WYN's analysis of fuel. Have you ever heard of a similar problem - no one else seems to know of it. If you can help can provide comprehensive details of symptoms/effects( quite frightening in traffic) and service history. Also is the dry air filter( item 5 page 67 in owner's handbook of J.5 Express) anything to do with the breather system of the fuel tank? Do not wish to bore with details unless you are interested but can supply service history, mileage etc.when problem occurred. Any help/advice would be much appreciated. Kind regards, Den
Another problem. Similar to this thread: http://www.fiatforum.com/uno/145194-no-h......inside-uno.html I am basically getting no hot air through the vents. I have followed the advice in the above thread and confirm that: 1) both pipes going to/from the engine bay get hot (very) 2) the heater valve cable works - i.e. it turns the switch on top of the heater valve. 3) there is another pipe coming out of the top of the valve and this is also hot, as is the valve itself. Am I right in thinking that if both pipes are hot that the valve and matrix are working ok? If so is it likely the "air disribution flap" alluded to in the other thread that may be the problem? If so, where is this flap and how do I get to it? Cheers guys! mooro
I've a niggling problem with an intermittant backfire which seems to be becoming more frequent. It gives you a second's notice: splutter, misses a beat then - KABOOM, then off it goes as if nothing's happenned. I'm planning a typical routine service, should this cure it or is it potentially something more serious. There's no other real symptom, everythings been runnning pretty reliable on that front. Also, there's a fuel filter fitted along one of the front fuel hoses (in-line). Is this an aftermarket jobbie that's been fitted as I cant find any reference to it anywhere and no-one can supply one. Should I replace it with any-old-generic-f/filter; leave it be; remove it completely ??? Thanks in advance for the help folks ! Stan.
I also fitted a priming bulb to mine as if its left a long time during winter for example the fuel siphons itself back to the tank & it takes quite a few turns of the key to get it back up as there are always airlocks that seem to stop it entering the carb
Re Talbots water system - I had problem with temp. gauge reading cool when heater off but when moving heater to hot the temp gauge went up to normal! - instead of taking out heater matrix drain system then remove 2 heater hoses under the bonnet and connect up to garden hose with clips and turn on tap if not much rubbish comes out then reverse the hoses and try again - make sure hose is long enough to get away from van! regards Norm
