Hi Usher,
I have a '92 Talbot and you are correct to fit a rubber hose as that is what is on mine.It angles back away from the engin and towards the bulkhead.
Cheers

Hi fpotur1.
The colour of my 1991 talbot autosleeper is Antelope Beige. A perfect match. If you read back through the archive of this forum the colour codes were mentioned a while back.
Hope this helps.

Hi in my Talbot you have to switch on 12volt on the zig unit.
It also has its own plug inside the cupboard in the cupboard next to the fridge.

Hi there this does not sound normal. Have you given it a service, changed the oil filter and plugs? Also it may be a kink in one of your pipes. Get you head gasket checked out.

for Warren, If it helps I recently changed all my brake hoses on my 91 autosleeper talisman Car Parts Direct supplied them over the counter next day, very reasonable on price. You are correct there are two sizes on the front and one solitary one on the rear (5 in total required). Glad I did the job Two weeks touring the Highlands gave the brakes a good workout. For those who watch there MPG I did 2000 miles on this tour and returned 25MPG from a 80k plus 2 litre petrol.

Hi Den. sound like your having a bit of a nightmare with this problem. If your man says its passed the MOT then he must have had it running to get the emissions test done. Whats more he will have had to run it at full speed for a short while to achieve this. This being the case it suggests there is presumably nothing massively wrong with the fuel system. Just to confirm the above ask to see the emissions report that goes with the MOT certificate. I know my MOT tester always gives me a copy, but whether he is obliged to in law I dont know.

Not trying to teach granny to suck eggs and I'm sure you'll already know most of this anyway but as regards air in the diesel system see if this helps - If you have a bucket of water and a length of clear pipe. immerse the pipe in the water and remove all the air. Now if you put your finger over one end and seal it then you can lift the pipe as high as you like, even right out of the bucket and the water will stay in the pipe and keep it full. Release your finger and allow air in and the level in the pipe will return to the lowest level i.e the bucket.the speed it returns at depends on the amount of air you let in.
The bucket is your fuel tank and the plastic pipe is your fuel system. The important bit to realise is that your fuel system needs to be kept sealed. if it isnt then even a tiny pinhole will allow air to enter and the pipe will drain back to the lowest point i.e the fuel tank. The reason your man has got the van running initially is because he will have manually primed up ( removed all the air from) the system and once it has started on a full system the pump probably has enough suction to overcome a small air leak to keep the engine running. the solution to your problem is to solve the leak. Note that a small leak will allow air in but will not necessarily show any visible signs of diesel leaking out. However it might. If you can get your man to run the engine. then put fresh clean newspapers on the floor beneath the engine; then overnight you may be able to detect where any leak is located. If this doesnt work it is just a case of going over joint by joint through the system till you find it.
If it helps you any, e.mail me off forum at bk.hycroft @ btinternet.com and we can arrange to have a chat on the phone

Hi. Anyone know if it still possible to obtain brake caliper repair kits. I have been told by one motor factor that it is now illegal to sell brake repair kits making it necessary to purchase new calipers!

Chasper,
Hi motor factors will be best for sevice consumable items, Beavers for the fuel tank and possibly pipes. If £ notes are important main dealers are your last resort, but a good motor factors will supply most of your needs without having to resort to dealers.
hope this helps

Yewtree,
Try Halfords or change your motor factor you are being fed the proverbial, Ferodo for one do new springs, shims and slide pins. If your requirement is pistons then yes a new caliper will be the way to go, but this is very rarely necessary.

hope this helps.

Hi CJ
Thanks for the prompt reply. I was after new rubber seals, I have tried 4 local motor factors, none of them can get the seal kits and the last one telephoned their supplier and this was the story they came up with.
I'll give Halfords a try, thanks

Hi
I bought a caliper repair kit last week from my local Peugot dealer, note it does'nt include bleed nipples they have to ordered separately.
