I have a Talbot Rambler Autosleeper with fairly sad rear springs and am looking to uprate and replace them. Has anybody done this? to what and where did you get the springs? Are the old ones easy to get off? I have heard of Mercedes 308or380 springs fitting but only anecdotal (sp?) Any advise all you Talbot fans?

Recently bought a 1992 Talbot Express Auto-sleeper Harmony. Very pleased with it especially after 23 year old Bedford that we had before could only cruise at 55mph (Talbot is happy at 75). As seems pretty common on high-roof campers the rear suspension is a bit low - has anyone done anything to rectify that - those 'spacer-things' I've seen, do they lead to a bumpy ride? Any thoughts? Many thanks Simon

Re the fridge - yes you are right there is a switch on the dash board that activates the fridge but unfortunately it does not actually freeze on the battery. In order to make it funcion efficiently you have to boost it by plugging in to a socket at home or garage and the switch will keep the fridge at temperature during the journey or until you reach an electric hook up.

Hi Susie
Try Delphin Designs.
They are extremely helpful.
PS my mountings are looking a bit cracked now, also light adjusters were wll corroded last MOT, could be a common problem.

had any probs with a current/voltage drain on car battery (not leisure) leaving it flat??
Chris

Thanks Eric for pointing me in direction of article in Practical Motorhome on suspension. I'm going to fit air suspension in new year, looks easy to fit. For anyone else interested see marcleisure website. Also for what sounds like much better gear linkage, which I am also going to do, see Delfindesigns.co.uk
good luck
Simon

Have researched adding power steering since my message - cheapest parts package seems to be £1000 without fitting (see delfindesigns.co.uk), much cheaper than anything else I can find but personally thats too much for me. If anyone knows cheaper, e.g. second-hand, please let me know.
thanks
Simon

It didn't actually say very much. It warned about overloading and then went on to say; "If the van is within loading limits then you can consider a suspension aid.
Most common among these are the air suspension kits, but these only improve the ride of your motorhome, not its carrying capacity."
I've decided to go-ahead on the basis of looking at the following websites which are linked;

I have recently purchased a 1989 Talbot Express Highwayman, 2 litre petrol.
The van is in great condition, however I have recently encountered a problem.
There is now a metallic sounding knocking coming from the engine when at low revs.
When the van was test driven and on the drive home ( approx 100 miles) this was not evident.
I think this has only occured since I filled up with fuel. As directed by the person I bought the motorhome from I filled up with unleaded fuel.
The original manual states using 91 octane fuel, but could anybody else who has any experience tell what they use. ie unleaded, super unleaded fuel additive as an octane boost or any other info would be appreciated.
