Hello MO5, until I can post a photo I can only describe them as decorative ,jelly mould shaped chrome covers attached to the end of the rods that are attached to the body of the pram, hope this helps!! Thanks again,Linda.

Am just going out to the garage to have a look at my super burley. Will double check, "He who thinks he has to be obeyed" thinks they are still on the body as he banged his foot on one when moving it about. He wants to move it to a skip.

Linda,

Have checked the jelly moulds and the ones on the body I have in the garage are the ones that are held on by tiny nuts, I don't think they are what you are looking for. But if you need the whole bars and accessories they are there.

Hi - I have just bought a very old Silver Cross 40" coach built pram (with a little bit at the bottom that pops out for extra room) - it badly needs renovating but is still very lovely. I've bought it to put our first grandchild in and will be looking for spare parts - I've looked on ebay but the spares seem very expensive - does anyone know of any other ways of finding spares? I'm sure this pram must be 50 years old by the way.

Hi Jilly, yes I'm afraid that everything to do with restoration seems to be VERY expensive! There really is no other way except to try to buy when you see someone selling something that you need, or might need in the future. If you are lucky enough to be able to buy a pram the same as your own which is in worse condition than yours, you may be able to cannibalise that for your own pram's sake, but that is rare I must say. You can't buy spares new and off the shelf these days for the old prams, they just aren't there! You can get things re-chromed like wheel hubs and rims but again, it is VERY costly for larger items.

What spares do you need Jilly? David and Nanny Johnson who are usually on here quite often might be able to help with some spares, but they are on holiday at the moment.

I'll definitely need a new hood and apron - I'll take some photos and put them on here - but if we start there that'll be something!!

Yes, but that is about your last step really! It sounds as though you are talking about Restoration as opposed to needing spare parts?? You need to start with the basics, chrome work - is it rusty? Paint work - are there scratches, dents etc that need sorting out? Does it need new tyres?

None of those are really spares I wouldn't say, unless you want to buy new wheels if yours are rusty? Re-chroming would cost you around £150 plus perhaps, depending on size, but I have never had to have it done so don't quote me on that. Tyres from £100 if you need 24 inch and buy them from Holland, more if you buy in the UK.

A new hood and apron and possibly interior upholstery is the last think after all the rest is sorted. They will cost you about £120 - £150 bare minimum I would imagine - probably more and whatever lining your hood has, you have to have in your pram, so you need to think about that as well and who is going to do it for you. Again, those aren't really spares, I wouldn't say. Expensive!

Hi Jillypolly,
I am new to the prammie world and I would like to say that whatever you need, be it advice or spares, the lovely prammie people will try to help.
I had two people offer to look for the brake springs I needed, but they could not find them. Then after weeks and getting desperate I found this forum and David is sending me the parts this week!
As your pram is so much older you may have more of a wait and hunt for things you need, but pick away at it one problem at a time, it is so worthwhile. Best of luck, The Rookie

Hi jillypolly
I would contact Ruud Mors in Holland for recovering and relining the hood and getting a new apron. He is about the cheapest in Europe.
