Just to let you know that I've got the jelly moulds from jimjams and they fit so I won't be needing the ones you have, though thank you for offering them to me. I must say they are much better quality than the new ones I bought from Silver Cross (that don't fit!), they are thicker, heavier and more deeply patterned, a fine example of falling standards!

Hi David, hope you and Nanny enjoyed your holiday. If you still have the bird of paradise plaques, and they are in reasonable condition, I would love to buy them. Look forward to hearing from you, Gillian.

Can anyone tell me why we hardly ever see anyone pushing a coachbuilt pram around these days? A lot of people seem to have them, and buy them on E Bay, but what do you all do with them?????? I know they are not as practical when you have a car or for going around the shops (and you could never leave a baby outside a shop unattended these days!), but surely they are not all kept indoors all the time? Let's start a new trend by all taking to the streets with our coach prams! (I have only just bought mine, but I do take it out everyday - with the baby of course!)

Regarding renovating a pram, I highly recommend Heritage prams
http://www.heritage-prams.co.uk/
They use a lot of the original tools from the old Silver Cross factory and are craftsmen, taking individual pride in all the prams they restore. They are not cheap, but then good quality never is!

Hi Gillian,
I have had a word with Maureen and she wants £50 for the two.
They are in fantastic condition.
Yes we had a wonderful time in Germany. We absolutely love it there.
We are returning for the Xmas Markets at Heidelberg in December.

Nanny and I use the traditional 30`s and 40`s prams for WW2 re-enactments. So ours get used quite often. We have a lot of fdriends who have bought his era prams for the same reason.
We have a Renault Kangoo and we can get two carriage prams in standing up.
Buy the right size car and you can take them anywhere.

Pram Crazy, yes Heritage will restore your prams, but they put the new chassis under all of them, so that you get lovely Mulliners or Silver Shadows with 20 inch wheels and they just don't look nice in my opinion. They lose their elegance I think. There is another lady who has been in touch with me, who had a Tenby done and they put the modern chrome detachable chassis under it and she is having a lot of problems now with the same part of the chassis continually breaking. It has been back to Heritage a few times and it is still the same, after a few months it goes again. Never meant for a Tenby you see? And this pram is used for a baby, not just to admire. So yes they will restore your SX but not to what it was before.

Hi Pram Crazy
I have to agree with Sandara on the Heritage prams restoration. They dont restore they replace the bits with modern day ones and like every thing else these days is very inferior quality to what things used to be.
I hate those smaller wheels on the Tenby type prams, they make them look cheap. If i buy one on this type chassis, i always look for another wreck with a good chassis & wheels and put the body on them.
xx

Replacing the old with new is not restoration!
Doing this makes the vintage prams worthless as they are no longer original.
restoration is making the original parts look as they did when new!
Heritage prams should not call their service restoration.
When we did restoation as a business we, whereever possible used the original parts. The only parts that could not be restored were tyres and hood and apron material, where the likes of marimo and stylon were no longer available and a modern alternative was used. To use a modern chassis and wheels, which in my mind is laziness, detracts from the original appeal of the pram, and as I said earlier makes them worthless as a vintage item as they no longer are.

I have used Heritage in the past and been very pleased with their work. Very difficult to find anyone these days to restore prams to the original state. Like everything else I suppose, takes a lot of time as true restoration is an art and not for amateurs so has to be paid for, i.e. expensive!!!!!

Think you have missed the point - I am happy with the job I had done at Heritage. I don't want a "restored antique", just a useable pram. I am not a collector or dealer, so just want a decent, clean pram that can be used for a baby!
