Hello,
I have just purchased a 1959 Silver Cross off of ebay. It could use some restoration, tyres, new apron and hood and so on. To get started on this, I would like to know what model it is. I can email a picture to anyone willing to try to figure out the model mystery. :o)

Thank you,
Rachael

Hello,
I am just beginning a restoration on a 36" 1959 Silver Cross pram I am hoping to finish by the middle of next month at the latest. I have someone lined up to do the paint. I have ordered a new mattress and tyres. Unfortunately I am stuck on two things. . .

1. I would like to replace the hood and apron preferably in a sort of sage/green. I have seen Black, Navy, Pink and Light Blue available and while I would love Pink, it is just too specific. If anyone knows where I can have this made, I would really appreciate the info :O)

2. The rubber handle cover is rotten and needs to be replaced. I have not found a place to get this. It's not a huge deal, but would be nice.. Again, If anyone knows where I can get a replacement, I would really appreciate the info :O)

Alison Murfett will help you On 01406 426007
SX/Heritage can only give you Silver Cross Hoods, the size that they are currently using. Heritage dont recover, he gives you a whole new frame already covered. So only from SilverShadow Mulliner shape pram can he do you a H&A and no other make of pram i.e Marmet
Any SX/ Wilson pram with a deep body pre mid to late 60s, has a different size of hood and i would recommened Alison for this Job and any other make of pram. She has anything you may need for refurb to prams

Thank you so much Karen for the information. That is really helpful. It would have been a mess to end up with the wrong size!

I have emailed Alison (I have read some great recommendations in previous posts and seen some examples of her work on http://www.whichcraftstudio.com) I am just waiting on a response now :o)

Thanks again, it's good to know I am looking in the right direction.

Rachael

Hi just new to the site and soooo excited. Ive just been offered a 1959 Wilsons pram (not sure about any other details yet) it is cream with the chocolate brown hood and apron. It is in need of some restoration, mostly cleaning i think, wont know until i actually have a good look over it, but im so glad i clicked on this link as there are so many of you that can offer some tips. Not in any hurry to get it all done as im not planning on having a baby for at least 2 years, but got the pram for free and have always wanted one!!!! They are just so much nicer than some of the tat you get nowadays and this is coming from a 24year old. So cheers folks, im sure i will be contacting some of you for advice in the future.

Hello Anne
Why don't you go to http://www.heritage-prams.co.uk/index.asp
for your touch-up paint and anything else you need for your pram. You could always buy four new hubcaps to match.
