Hi Linda, I made quite a few but as with all my dolls pram stuff they have been put away as I dont collect the dolls prams now unless its something special. Will find them and happy to sell you a set for £5.00 which will go towards my 'stray & feral cat fund' Tina

hi everyone, still trying to find out what i can about streng prams. so far - german 1970/80s. not much but at least its a start. might just put it up for sale and see what happens.
also, is there any unspoken rule about painting your pram wheels? do they have to be over a certain age or a certain model? same re decorating the sides. i know technically its my pram and i can do what i want but don't want to spoil it (a wilson) by doing the wrong thing! i don't know yet what model it is but would be very grateful for any suggestions, elaine

Hi Elaine, with regards to your Wilson: A collector will often want orginal or restored to as close to original as possible. On the other hand, there are many restored "one off" prams, which are totally unique. It really depends what your plans are long term. Personally, I would do up the pram to suit yourself. Kathy

thanks kathy. are there any books that can identify your pram. i have been on some web sites and it looks very similar to some. (the prams were stunning.) i have heard there should be a number inside the body that gives you the year but is that it? elaine ps my pram has been heavily painted with a thick gloss so its hard to see if there are any features

Sorry no don't have one. If you already have a handle and its tatty try this. I bought a Marmet Brittania and the handle had a bit of the plastic covering off. I stripped it all off, gave it a good polish and fantastic job. Seeing a chap next week to see if he can engrave the Marmet back on it.

He doesnt make the handles as we tried that and its not cost effective to do so. It has to be a very hard dense wood otherwise the grain splits. A piece of wood to make a handle is in the region of £15 - £25 depending on what you have. The drill bit that makes the hole all the way through is £48. I know all this as husband made me a dolls pram handle for a tiny silver cross dolls pram and it cost £22 for the wood alone and we paid the chap to drill it.

I have not used the white plastic to cover any handles but have an Osnath handle done in it which is great and a Manton one which is rubbish lol. Think it depends if its a home made job or a professional job. Tina

Hi Jen & ladies
I bought some of this white plastic roll from Sandra for a Royale dolls pram handle and it worked a dream. I wasn't sure if it would work as the Royale handles are quite slim but it shrunk great using the highest setting on my hairdryer. Some pram handles have the name engraved on the wood [Osnath I believe] and this can show through but most just have the name written on the white plastic so a recover loses the pram makers name. If there is no cover present and no name etched on the handle then there is nothing to lose. Once the covering had cooled down it felt and looked just like it did with the original covering on it.
I think there are also a few companies selling this covering on Ebay but Sandras prices are extremely reasonable and can be found on her website. Judith

The white covering for handles, is there any reason why the old covering has to come off before the new covering goes on? I have some from Sandra and was getting my Manton handle ready to be done, stopped when I saw discussion about it, timing.

Hello Madge. I just wonder if you would be able to get the handle ends/caps back on with two thicknesses of covering. When the covering has shrunk it is thicker than it is when unshrunk, if you get my drift. Someone else may know of some other reason. The covering shrinks well to wood but it may not shrink and harden to other things such as original cover. Hope this helps. Judith
