Hi Linda, I wasn't worried at all. I have come across many green eyed monsters in my time and had run ins with prammies who lie and deceive to get what they want, they know who they are lol. If they can find a way to annoy you they will do it. Luckily the majority of prammies are nice decent people and sooner or later the 'bad' ones get a reputation that is hard to shake off. Tina

Hi, have been watching the discussion about the covering for handles with interest. I have attached a photo of my latest project the LBC Crescent B pram.

I bought this pram from the original owner, who bought it from Treasure Cot's shop in London for her son who was born in 1973. (Her son actually helped me to load the pram into my car)

It has had a re-spray and new tramlines painted. I have also fitted new straps and brake pads. Only two jobs to do now, sew in the replacement pram braid and fit new plastic covering on the handle.

The discussion on the handle covering was most opportune and thanks to the thread i am now awaiting this covering from Sandra. This is the beauty of the forum, I can always rely on one or another of the contibutors to "know" how to proceed.

Cheers all and thanks for all the advice and good natured support and guidance - Sian

Yes the advice on the handle covering gave me confidence, result brilliant like new, just got to paint name on.

For what it is worth, the hard part was getting the old covering off, I heated it with a hair dryer bit by bit and cut and peeled it off, or is there a simpler way??? Also found on the the end bits stick up so I softened them and then clipped the bits with nail clippers, had more control over cutting then, worked a treat. Marge

Re listings being removed:

I recently had one of my postings removed cause I asked someone to email me. It had nothing to do with selling an item. I just had some information that I wanted to pass along privately. Very frustrating to come back to find my posting had been removed. Kathy

Hi. Got my S Bars and handle end caps back from Shezzy yesterday and what a brilliant job has been done on them. Unrecognisable from the dreadful badly painted ones which I sent to her.
I am now unable to make up my mind about the actual handle bar. This is a SX dolls pram and the white covering is quite scruffy. Now, do I keep it 'as is', recover it or get a better one? I have the covering for it but just wondered if the SX name is engraved in the wood or just on the white covering. The Royale handle I did didn't have the name on so there wasn't a quandary. Does it really matter about the name showing on the handle or is it just a matter of choice? Many thanks. Judith

Re handles. On the dolls' pram I am restoring the white handle cover has been removed, revealing a brown wooden one with no Silver Cross logo. I am sure the logos are inscibed into the plastic handles, but the silver paint rubs off with use, so I suppose it is personal choice if you want the name on or not.

The chrome looks fantastic! im well impressed !

Regarding the removal of the old handle covering, lots of squeezy forced between handle and covering has been mentioned as the easiest way to remove it. havnt tried it myself but thats the way i was going to do it.

I have to agree with you Valerie. A good chromer is impossible to find in my area. They wouldn't do wheels for me, and they take at least 6 months for anything else. Kathy

Hi Lynn, quite a few prammies have been buying from a seller on ebay as I checked his buyer and feedback list. Just bought some myself and can't believe how cheap it is. Might as well have a go as nothing to loose. It cost £15 to have the Osnath handle done (excellent job though) when it only cost around £1.65 for a metre of the covering including postage. Have a look at listing 360095562874. Tina

Hi Lynn. You can buy it from Sandra on Coachbuilt Prams - Perfect Elegance. Once there click on Prammie Supplies and you will find it there with instruction on how to do it.

lAdies. I decided to recover my SX Dolls pram handle after all. Taking the old cover off was so hard and skinned most of my fingers! The Royale one was so easy as it sort of peeled off. There is an indentation of Silver Cross in the wood but I don't know whether it will show up after the cover is on. I had to fill in a little gouge so have to wait for the filler to dry. Judith

Try heating up the old covering on handle with a hair dryer, it warms it and makes easier to get off, I used nail clippers to start the tearing process, have to keep stopping the hair dryer, unless you have some else aim it on handle then tear the old covering off. It worked for me. Marge

Hi Marge. I tried your tip earlier of using the hairdryer to heat the old covering and it worked it easier but the hairdryer kept overheating and going off grrr.

Rosie.I think the squeezy you were referring to was for the rubber/plastic handles on the folding chassis. The coachbuilt handles cannot slide off no matter what you do as they are shaped at the ends.

Don't forget to put your clocks back ladies. Cheers Judith
