I won a dolls pram on ebay yesterday. Its all original including the colour coded rubber tyres and the original colour coded bedding etc. Has anybody an ideas who the maker is as nothing at all on the pram. I don't normally buy dolls prams anymore but have been trying to find a babies version of the one in the pic. If anyone has one similar with the windows in the side and is interested in selling can you let me know please. Tina

Re messages on here being removed because items for sale are mentioned, I have just seen under this Children Forum a message titled "For Sale" and someone has advertised a sofa! Wonder if that will be removed? If not, then I think we should complain to Preloved about our messages being taken off here.

Marge, re the problem with a hairdryer overheating.

My husband has been a bit sceptical about using a hairdryer to shrink the shrinkfit plastic. He claimed the heat would be inconsistent and that the hairdryer would blow up!!!

So he has bought me a present. At the car booty this morning, he paid £3.00 for a Black and Decker Heat Gun!!! He is now keen to try out his new toy, as soon as the covering arrives from Sandra.

Perhaps this will tempt him into helping me a bit more with the prams, of which he is quite dismissive. Here's hoping that the goodwill and desire to get involved will continue.

Sian

Sian, a heat gun should work much better than a hairdryer. You will get a more consistent heat from it. Kathy

Hi Sian. My problem with the hairdryer over heating was not when shrinking the cover, it will go for 10 minutes without turning or blowing up lol!!!
The problem with the over heating was in getting the old cover off. It was ok whilst switched on but when I turned it off to pull a bit more covering off it was then that it wouldn't turn back on until it had cooled down a bit more.
I have this problem when drying my hair. As long as it is turned on it is ok but if I turn it off it throws a tantrum and won't come on again until cooled down.
Your heat gun sounds a good idea especially if it gets your husband involved with your prams.

BTW Ladies: Further to the dolls pram handle I recovered this morning,
the indentation on the pram handle has shown through the covering and whilst it is not silver you can still see the Silver Cross name so I am well pleased with it. It looks great with its newly rechromed ends and s bars.

Hi Joanne
Good idea but it would need someone with a much steadier hand than mine! The indentation on the handle wasn't very deep like it is on the cover so, although you can see the name, there isn't much of a depth to it. Given the right paint someone with a very steady hand might be able to make a good job of it. One wonders if Heritage Prams have a stamp for doing this on the handles they produce, not that this would be an option to us when they make them themselves. Judith

hi i have found that if the name indent is still showing through i go over it with silver paint on a cotton bud then gently wipe of excess with another one, but you have to be quick or you can make a mess of it as it dries very fast hope this helps Angela

Angela, re the painting over with a silver paint and cotton bud.

I thought I would give Treasure Gold wax a go. This is a product that comes in a little pot and you rub it on with your finger to cover damage on gilded items such as picture frames.

It is quite good on items that you don't use a great deal such as frames so I wonder what it would be like on an item you use regularly.

It is very easy to work into cracks and spaces and any excess wipes off easily. I thought the indentation on a handle might be a good place to use it.

I have had a pot for years and it lasts and lasts so I will give it a go and wipe off the excess. I will post on the forum if it works.

I understand it is for sale in ironmongers and antique shops and it is very handy. I have even used it on china! Sian

haha you all beat me to it i was going to suggest a gesslein dolls pram as well. i know the up to date adult versions have fantastic write ups and are quite pricey i was going to buy one when my daughter was born in 2008 but i wanted to see it in the flesh before buying and they are only on display in one shop in britain which is hundreds of miles away by the coast. i saw it on ebay too, let us know how you get on with it tina im sure i read somewhere they produced them in the 50's (but dont quote me on that) im sure they where the only manufacturers to have the side viewing panel on a pram too.

Joanne I wonderd
where it had gone, was looking for it to mail you, the only way you can contact me if we are not allowed to mention email address on here is through any of my adds.

And looks like its gonna be the same for every one, very silly if you ask me cause it stops us making new email friends withiong this pram forum...

Hi Shezzy & Joanne. If you click on a members pic and you are logged in then you can contact that person by email. It doesn't give the email address but the facility is there to email the person.
It does work! Judith
