If it is a Carlton with detachable wheels, don't you pull the tab out and then slide the wheel off whilst pulling the tab out. Maybe I've got it wrong and in that case sorry. Judith

Hi Jen. So pleased for you that your wheel & tyre have done well in the D/W. That is great that your tyre moves more freely so should be able to be taken off more easily, hopefully. I haven't had time to take off a wheel from the dolls pram today but will try tomorrow. The tyres are rock hard on that one. Hope more ladies save themselves heaps of work by trying this method. Many thanks to the person who gave out this tip. Judith.

LOL Marge, hopefully pulling on that tab will do the trick for you! Don't feel too badly, I did the same thing the first time I tried changing wheels like that! Kathy

It was me that put the tip about using the dishwasher on here, I read it in an ad for a pram on E Bay the other week where the seller said that is how she cleaned the wheels! Can't remember whoever she was, but so glad I passed on the tip to everyone. I shall have to put an addendum into my pram restoration book about this before I send out any more copies, and those of you who bought it already might like to write in the dishwasher tip for future reference! To the E Bay seller, whoever you are, many thanks on behalf of all of us on Preloved for the dishwasher advice!

Thank you Lucy. I just couldn't remember who it was. Methinks a lot of people will have reason to be very grateful for this tip. It reminded me of the TV advert where the little boy is trying to put his scooter in the dishwasher but, unfortunately for him, it won't go in. A great tip Lucy.
Kind regards. Judith

I also think it goes without saying that you must pack the side of the hubs with grease (where the bearings run) so that the wheels won't sieze up!!

Pat

Hi Marge, oh i know what type of wheel this is, but i have not got a pram like this, and have never taken one off. I think if memory serves me right that it is a clip that is sprug. when the wheel goes on it comes out to hold it on. Sorry i have not a clue how to get it off. Best person to ask about that i tyhink will be shezzy,as she has prams like this, jen xx

Hi Judith, yes mine are the rock hard type, i would say if you have a vice and put it in straight after the dishwasher jobbie that it would peel
off like an orange, they were that soft , and i guess if you put the tyre only back in the dishwasher that it would go back on a treet jen

You're right about that Pat re the inside of the hub. The wheel I had in the dishwasher was as clean as a whistle inside the hub so it would need plenty of grease to keep it running well. Judith

Marge the grosvenors had different releases depending on the age of pram and the style of wheel cap, if its a smooth plain cap you pull the little bar if its the circle patten type you push the little bar i will try to add a phot of each type of wheel as my grosvenor had bothe types on it two pull and two push...i will try to add poics on saturday afternoon.

And some great news !!!!!! my friend Jenny became a grandma on 4th october, her daughter Sabina gave birth to rose valentine, seen the poics and shes gorgeous.....congrats to both....I wonder if shed like to have a ride in one of my prams? or her mum would like to take her walkies in one?

Kathy/Jen.
Just an update on the Car Medic repair guy's visit. The work took two hours and cost me £40.00 but he covered several areas of wear and tear and did a beautiful job.

I will post some before and after photos. The most impressive is the hole at the front of the hood,(see attached photo) on which I had attempted a botch repair job. The repair he did is looking really good.

I will post pix of the two worse areas, one at the front and the second a hole the size of a 5p piece on the side of the hood and their after pix. 4 photos in all.

I am so impressed that he is doing another hood for me next week.

Sian

The repair on the hole. I am really impressed with the quality of the work and how well it covered the hole. Sian
