Not sure if the "too far away" message was for me or not. I just wondered what might have gone wrong to cause this problem. regards, Richard.
Just as an update I've now solved my central heating problem. Partially drained the system and removed the central heating pump. Turns out the olive on bottom connection was nearly falling off the pipe. Cleaned the pipe and refitted pump with a new olive. Then refilled the system with the bleed screw on the c/h pump open, when water started to come out of this hole, replaced the bleed screw in the pump. Bled the radiators and then fired up the boiler. When the boiler was up to temperature the c/h pump kicked in and circulated the hot water fine with the radiators hot in no time. I assume the problem was some sort of air lock in the c/h pump. Only one radiator remained cold, so closed the valves and drained the water out of that radiator, then opened the valves to run some water through till hot water was comming out, replaced the drain plug allowing it to refill, bled the air out and that solved the problem. Many thanks for your help John
Thanks for letting the rest of us know what to do if WE get the problems you had. TIM
Mains lights is lit, but green boiler light won't light and programme panel is blank. Reset using "Exact and '-'" and programme panel flashes briefly but won't set. Noticed black (gas?) pipe was closed (knob in horizontal position) so turned it on. Rushing water sound, then nothing. 5 hours later, enourmous banging sound and hot water all over the floor. Turned everything off in desperation. Any ideas? Looking at the number of posts this seems a decidly dodgy boiler and may ask builder to replace it, though not sure of the warrenty period...
i think its a 155 sealed system and you left the filling loop open! have you pressed button 2 and 4 on the clock together (hold them in)if the clock is still blank you need a new one. did you have hot water need to know. sean
Has a front panel with on/off rocker switch, amber mains light, green boiler burn light, red lock out light and programmer panel. There is a loose grey screw cap on the top of the unit and a round hole towards the rear that the cap might fit. Pressing the "enter" and "-" programmer keys together as instructed in the manual should reset it, but it flashes numbers then returns to blank. Manual says that if no key presses within 60secs it will ignore any inputs, but I'm pressing the buttons as quickly as I can! Switched it back on yesterday but when I noticed the pressure dial was reading over 3 (according to black hand - red hand about 1.5) I switched it off again, as manual suggested this would indicate a fault. Boiler light illuminates if "All day water" rocker switch is selected, but promptly goes out if "Timed" rocker switch selected. Did have hot water...
Cheers
Our CH light was on the built in programmer (advance) and the CH pump was hot with the pipework either side hot also which made me believe the pump was working... but the rads soon become cold, even when pump pipework hot. To make matters worse, when I went downstairs to see what the room stat was on it was not even lit red (reached) or green (below).. no matter what setting I put the programmer on 24hr, all day etc.. I could not get the room stat to sho any lumination... at the same time the burner light was also out but 'lock out' was also out.... I tried resetting etc. but still no life! Anyone reccomend anyone in the Northampton area as the property is vacant at present and I would like to sort before our sale completes. Cheers..
You sound like the kind of guy that can help Me. I have a Powermax 185 that was installed in 2002 had no problems with it until I found that the water in the central heating system was totally sludged up. I have just power flushed the whole system because I have heard a kettleing sound from the boiler as well. all finished fine with no problems until I found a water mark from under the boiler it sits on a chipboard shelf that I can see all the pipework under the boiler and this leak seems to be coming from the middle of the boiler! all conections to the boiler seen sound and I cannot see any leaks coming from the boiler but look underneath and there it is. Any ideas from where it could be coming from would be greatly apprieceiated. Ian Adverts Currently On Preloved - Place an ad here for free
