Hello,

My son has a 155 and it seems like it's picked up one of the common probs. I've got HW when I switch to HW Cont but on timed the thing won't light up. No matter what combination I put on the programmer it won't fire. The stat isn't getting a feed either (no lights). The LEDs on the progarmmer have gone dim too which I think is a classic symptom of a sick progarmmer.

My questions are: can it be fixed with the factory reset trick or is it terminally goosed. (Would like a hint as its a 120 mile round trip!)

If it is knackered, its it user replacable, how much and where to get one?

Hi,

just to close down my exploits with my 155. It was the timer that was defunct.

The symptoms are HW Cont working but neither HW or CH on timed. No live feed to Stat and the LEDs on tht timer only just glowing. Its easy to replace, just a few casing screws and electicals are just "spade" type connectors. I got mine for (£49 + £15 overnight delivery ) + VAT from Spa heating supplies in CV31 - helpful guys too!!

Anyway, Job done - hope this helps others avoid a £xxx bill!!

Hi Tony,

I am experiencing the same problem as you had last year.

I bought a new build property in March 05 with the Powermax 155x. The digital display on the boiler 'died' in October 05 leaving us with the ability to have continuous hot water but no heating. The developer arranged and paid for the faulty component to be replaced under our new build house warranty. In April 06, we had the exact same problem - a blank display. Again, the component was replaced by the developer. Now the display has gone for the third time and we are outside our 2 year new build warranty (groan). I've spoken to Powermax and they are quoting approx 350 pounds to come out and fix it. I fear this is going to be an annual expense for me given that the component part has failed three times in 2.5 years.

I wondered if you were able to fix your problem without calling a plumber out?

thank you !

I think Powermax (Heatteam) have a standard call out charge (£300) for fixing the unit. For that they will repair whatever is wrong. For a clock replacement only they score big-time

In terms of changing the clock, its fairly easy job and certainly doesnt require a powermax specialist, any corgi registerd heating eng would be able to swap it. Clock + callout + 1hr labour should make be the makeup of any bill. I did mine in less than an hour and it was the first time I'd taken the case off.

As a matter of interest, do you have a lot of power cuts? I've pinned my failure down to switching the mains on and off when doing some decorating. Power cuts are mentioned in another earlier message too. I'm considering installing surge protection on the isolator as a precaution - just a thought.
