I have recently bought a flat which is about 4 years old so assume boiler is about same age. It was working when we first got keys and started to repaint etc but now the power light is on, the programmer is ok but no green or red lights and no heating or hot water.
Anyone got any idea what might be wrong?

Hi, I have a powermax 155 which is approx 7 years old, & recently serviced. it's started making a high pitched whistling sound when it fires up, not everytime, but quit regularly. As far as I can tell, it sounds like it's coming from the fan. Has anyone else come across this? Thanks Brian

Hi I have moved into a fairly new house (about 5 years old ) and it has a Powermax 185 boiler installed.
Everything used to be ok but recently when the green light is on it starts making a severe banging noise as if there is someone inside trying to get out. Any one have any ideas?
I have to switch the light off by adjusting the controls to stop the banging noise.
Also where can I get a manual for it? Thanks

Hello
I have a Powermax 185 in a 4 year old property. When I bought the house, the boiler was off so I had to start the system again, bled the radiators and althought there is hot water, the radiators never really get hot. In addition, every time it starts, the boiler makes a banging noise which is a bit frightening at nights. The red light of course comes on when the boiler is working.. Any ideas?
PS: There is a descaling device in the house

thanks for that Sean- I presume that BG wont have a clue how to do it- can you recommend anyone to sort out kettling and how costly would it be? I presume that i should get it looked at sooner rather than later?

hi the pump speed is on the pump: remove large bottom casing .2x8mm or phillips screws.left hand side top corner the pump! on the pump you will see a speed selector marked 1, 11, 111, make sure its on 111 this is the fastest speed. the header tank is in the loft just make sure theres water in it good luck !!!!

Hi did you manage to solve this? can someone reccomend a good plumber to fix this in central london? My problem is the pressure: when I turn it on, it goes up and up to 3 (then I switch it off). When I switch it off, after a couple of days the pressure is down to almost zero. Sean, I tried to call you, would you be able to help me? I am on 0779 2623857 regards Luigi

Hi, I have had a problem where I lost water from one of the radiators and after I found that both the red and green lights on the bolier didn't work. I have managed to reset the bolier (powermax 185) and they both came on and I got hot water and central heating, but after a while they go off (when you are not looking ;-)). The water remains hot I suppose because of the insullation so we have hot water for a while. I found that the reset does not always work so I wondered if this was some kind of shut down because the bolier was too hot and that some kind of damage has been done to a thermostat of sensor somewhere. Any advice, regards John
