Grateful for any help thanks Nigel

My most recent problem with my Powermax 185 is that all the lights look normal but nothing happens....so the HW and CH lights are on but the fan never starts and the burner never tries to light. (and of course we have no heat or hot water) Checked the one overheat thing (+) and it seems physically OK.
HELP Thanks Janet
Please help Haze
I trust you have vented the radiator/s as you are trying to fill up? If this fails you could have a blockage. Have you got 8mm or 10mm pipework going to the radiators? if so this pipework is notorious for blocking up a specially after draining down. That said, it could just be air locked so don't panic too much :-) Try venting rads first. Hope this helps. Tom.

I have a Powermax 155x. I have had trouble with the over pressure valve leaking, so I had it replaced, along with the top bleed valve, as it was lime-scaled solid. 1) How do I operate the top bleed valve? 2) It now can not hold pressure. I put water into system to 1 bar, but as soon as I turn the hot water on, the pressure drops to 0 within a minute. I'm loosing pressure but don't know why. 3) Also, do I need to put pressure in the pressure expansion tnak, if so what pressure do I need? Call me on 07740830068 and I can call you back. Been meaning to have a chat with you for some time but i have been so busy. i am sure you have too.like youself been working on the powermax range for number of years now in the London area.it would be great to have a chat my number is 07973194805.
Thanks for your help (again).
Have a range powermax 185, all lights seem to function on the clock. Unfortunately no hot water or central heating. Mains light is on, boiler tries to fire up with the green light but then goes out. Tries it about 3 times and then locks out. Not sure where to check the water pressure because I don't have the manual, had a bit of a look around and doesnt seem to be anywhere obvious. Tried switching off at the mains and still get same.
Powermax SS 155x-(think its a sealed system), approx 7 years old, not regularly maintained, mostly in earlier years. I have an electric water permuit (b&q) softener as well as a preinstalled inline Liff limefighter tube on main inlet pipe. I had lockouts occuring yesterday, although heard an unusual sound of water unblocking the day before as noise transmitted through pipes. I released a little pressure using the pressure release valve (marked 3 bar) valve and water went out i think the waste pipe. I then pumped little more air into the air valve expansion tank.I then turned the water inlet tap on to take pressure to 1 bar. I then turned on demand and the boiler ignited. HW & CH fine, all radiators are bled, only tiny amounts of air to bleed. It seems to be holding pressure fine 4/5 hours later. Although the red cap is still leaching small but persistant drops of water which mostly evaporate on hot surface. I suspect something else is required.Although its working for now well enough. I have already investigated a fix & repair quote, which appeared excessive. Suggestions welcome. Thanks for the info from the earlier posts, particularly sean and all other contributors.
I am new to this so please forgive any incorrect terminology that I may use. My house was fitted with a Powermax 185 CP when it was built in c1995. For the 3 years that I have owned the property there have been no problems with the boiler, other than some random noises - I think other posts have referred to this as 'kettling' which I can live with. My problem is that for the last week the Green Burner light has failed to come on (ignite ?) in the morning. If I turn off the boiler and put it back on (either via the Mains 'OI' switch or by cycling through the Auto/All Day/24 Hour/Off buttons) it will come on but sometimes it takes about five attempts. Having read through the other posts I have come to the conclusion that the Programmer is probably the problem but that would not appear to be a logical explanation for the multiple start up attempts that it needs ? Can anyone confirm my thoughts on the Programmer and offer a solution to the ignition delays ? Any help much appreciated as the novelty of getting up in the morning to a freezing cold house to 'jump start' the boiler has lost its comedy value. The wife and kids are not impressed either and clearly it is my fault. Seasons greetings, Lee the Gooner.
Power going to boiler (amber light on, on the off on switch) but control panel not lit up so boiler will not function. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.
having toubles with my powermax 185. fuse keeps tripping when ever i switch on central heating prgramme. hot water works fine, but central heating is the problem. help please, starting to get cold!!
