Hi Sonia

My daughters bike has had a series of problems like your sons. It was good from new but as soon as things started to go wrong it become a weekly event, and now has packed up completely, not a year old and only 4000km.

Anyway as for the problems, start with the easy things. Spark at plug, take out the plug, attach the plug lead and rest it on the engine making sure it has a good contact, kick the engine over and check for a spark, if no spark check for faulty wiring, also check the ignition switch (prone to being faulty), if the neutral light does not come on this could be the fault. If there is no spark and the wiring is sound then suspect 1st the rectifier and then the magneto. If electrics OK check the Fuel, is there any getting to the engine, pipe or carb blocked. The valves need adjusting regular about every 1000Km, do this along with the oil change, however you normally get a performance loss not total failure. The rubber pipes around the engine are very poor qaulity, check for splits and replace with a good heat resistant pipe. Normally if an engine has fuel and a spark it will run, it may not go very well and signs of a service but the first thing is to make sure both are present. Your problem may be something simple so the advice above is saying dont strip the engine down because the spark plug is faulty. Fault finding can be a time consuming event, treat it as a challenge and have fun doing it, hope it all works out for you.

regards

Nibzy

hi, does any one know if there is a restriction in the kinroad xt-50-18 engine or exhaust. Because i have 1 and the bike dosent go over 28mph and does not go up hills unless in first gear and over reveing! i have a racing cdi unit, a peformance air filter and a bigger mainjet, this hasent made any difrence.

Also does any one know of a 125cc engine that will fit in bike. Or an big bore kits to go on the 50cc engine,

Thanx skyline

Inlet manifold is restricted at the head end, you can open that up or get a manifold for a C90 but you will have to slant the starter motor back and only fix it with 2 bolts.

By the way these big bore kits that say 80cc only actually give 62cc because of the stroke, still worth having though as the ports and valves are much larger. Good luck

That is no good for you, but you can go to http://www.hypermotos.com/partsGB.html they will have one, but you will still have to do something with the inlet manifold or you will be wasting your time

If you have the necesary skills, you would be better off getting an old C90 engine (must be cdi version) and fitting the crank, barrel, piston and head from that engine to yours, if you do it, remember to fit the cam chain and cylinder studs from the C90 as well, cos the barrel is slightly longer, this gives you miles more power and torque and you get to keep your original engine no.

You are right about checking the oil, do it every day, and change the oil with good quality oil every 4-500 miles, that way you wont be burning your rings out ever again.

Terry,
Any chance you can send me a copy of the manual ?. I bought a XT50 for my son at Christmas 2007 and have since bought an 80cc up grade engine kit for it.

I am an engineer to trade and know a lot of the ins and outs of engines, but a manual would be handy does the manual cover the gearbox ? as the first original NEW engine devoloped an oil leak on the gearbox casing and wrecked the top end, so I would like to take the gearbox apart and fix the alloy casing properly.

Finally where do you obtain your Kinroad parts from ?. I have been getting parts from Lxiling World.

Cheers
Ian.
