hey people, well bascially i have got no spark, and its been about 2 months now, and to be honest im getting fed up of it, i have checked the spark plug, coil, HT lead and the kill switch, and still got no spark. so i have been told that it is the CDI unit magneto. i was wondering if you thought that it was definatly that, and if so would you be able to price one up for me? if you can, can you email it to [Log in to view email] thanks scott

Scott, When you say you have tried the kill switch, have you checked the stand kill switch. On my son's XT 50 the stand kill switch was shorting out, I then done away with it "Its worth checking".Hope this helps. Cheers Ian.

with the new found power from the straight through pipe. ... mite be good for a bit ........but if you keep thrashing it at 60 mph... may be a bit more down hill. isnt there a chance you will send the piston in to melt down..... with the worst gudgon pin to piston clearance i,ve ever seen...mmmmm where did we put that old honda engine...

Had my bike for around 6 months now and had alot of problems. The inlet manafold was held in with some sort of glue instead of being bolted, the spark plug was blown and also the air filter was put in a bad place. If you just brought this bike, i would suggest you get the spark plug changed straight away to avoid breaking down. Also, driving this bike in the rain can be dangerous, make sure the air intake (black box) is out of the way in a dry place so it does not suck in water. my bike is increasingly hard to start and will not idle unless it is warm. ive been told that its caused by water in the fuel but i do not know. if you could send me a copy of the user manual i would be very greatfull. my email address is [Log in to view email] (underscores between the jamie, uk and 07)

Hi does anyone have a manual for the xt50gy ? I. so any chance of emailing me a copy. I have modified my sons bike a little as he had very little power. I derestricted it by opening the tube from carb to head. I had a look at the cdi which has 6 wires everyone mentions disconnecting the grey/white wire but on looking at the cdi it is not connected anyway. Now that we have openned up the pipe from carb to head it goes off the clock with the needle sitting half way round the dial 55-60mph.(leaves his school mates for dust) ps i have disconneted the kick stand wiring as this is a death trap. anyone know what the tyre pressure should be?

Hi Sorry forgot to mention bike snapped its chain. After reading a few peoples messages it seems a common problem. get rid of it and buy a decent chain from e bay or bike shop just ask for a 420 chain. make sure the joiner link clip (the one thats closed at one end and open at the other) is fitted so that the closed end is point towards the direction of chain travel as it goes around the sproket. if you have it the other way it is possible for the clip to come off as it goes around and is also an mot failure

the tdc mark (2) on the crank, what does it line up with to get crank in correct position. Is there a mark on the side of the engine. i have no side covers on at the moment as engine is completely stripped. Not sure if its the little bung hole that you remove to see a line on the flywheel , if it is i'll need to put back together. Do you own a manual by any chance?
