i have had my nokia 5146 for nearly a year now & i wanted to change to bt cellnet. When i phoned them up to ask about the unblocking code i was told they would charge me £35.25. I then asked if i asked for it again at the end of july when it is a year old they still said no it would cost me the same.

ONE 2 ONE AND ORANGE BOTH LOCK THE PHONES TO THEIR OWM NETWORK. WHERE AS VODAPHONE AND CELLNET DONT. THIS MEANS VODA AND CELLNET SIM CARDS WILL WORK ON A PHONE THAT HAS BEEN ON EITHER OF THE 2 NETWORKS. WHERE AS ONE 2 ONE AND ORANGE WONT. YOU CAN GO TO MOST SUNDAY MARKETS OR ANY COMPUTER FAIR AND GET A ONE 2 ONE OR ORANGE PHONE UNLOCKED TO WORK ON EITHER OF THESE 2 NETWORKS THIS COSTS BETWEEN £10-£15. IF THE PHONE IS DUAL BAND IT WILL WORK ON ANY NETWORK.

I've found a good web site
http://www.fotogenix.co.uk
who sell stuff to delock, dual band and other stuff. Follow the link at the bottom of the first (home) page as it's not on their main menu.

go to your local electronics or pc
shop, they will probably be able
to unlock your 5146, either that
or you get hold of a copy of
the "unlock" software and an
adaptor cable, and unlock it
yourself on your own pc.

The best place to go is http://www.Essentialfones.co.uk They will either unlock for you or sell you the cables at cheap prices. I have found them very helpful.

one2one and orange use 1800 freq, v/fone & cellnet use 900 freq. that is why dual band phones are getting popular, and why your phone rejects your sim card, cos it wants to use the wrong frequency.

hi
if you want to use your vodafone sim card, then you have to go to a one2one shop and ask them to unlock your fone. this may cost about 25 ponds max. from then on once the company have unlocked your fone, then you will be able to use ur sim card.
you dont happen by anychance to know the austarlian code? is it +61?
