can anyone help.Iam having trouble with my boiler. When in hot ware mode only things work fine.As soon as the central heating is switched on it will run for 20-30mins get very hot and shut down. British Gas have changed just about everything, and ive just about lost my temper with them,as they just cant fix it .Seems to me that it is just getting too hot, although BG say this is not the case.Anyone out ther with any idea?

michael.how old is your boiler ,is it a replace ment say in the last five years for an old boiler and has been put in on an old system,i need to know these facts.did they change the three port valve controlling the hot water and central heating modes if your system is fitted with this type or two single valves ,has the pump been replaced .another factor could be your heat exchanger is starting to scale up ,but i suspect that the radiator circuit is sludged up with muck and may need flushing out in my job of installing these boilers i have always found them to be very reliable and hope that this info helps you somewhat ,regards russell

Russel. Thanks very much for the info. The boiler is at least 20years old which is the length of time we have been here. Can you explain how a sludged up system can cause the boiler to shut down.On central heating the radiators get nice and hot but when the house gets to the correct temp and the boiler switches of,so does the pilot and everything else. But on water only we dont seem to have a problem.
Thanks for your help. Mike
