Fiat 1.7 Diesel Engine.

1.7 Diesel, as used in the Uno, please offer information as to regular failure items, things to look for on used engines etc, etc. Where can I find information on this type? ( Haynes do not do a manual for the diesel ) Any input appreciated.

One thing to look out for with this engine is the lobes on the camshaft that drive the vaccum pump for the brakes they are prone for breaking off of the camshaft. The last one that I repaired broke the vaccum pump as well, I thought the cost of parts from fiat was not too bad at £80 for the camshaft and £30 for the vaccum pump. The new camshafts have been modified by the way. Gogs
