Oh no not a grande punto.Only joking....LOL...
Yes there are some probs with this model but most of them are recalls.
Depending on if it is a 3door or 5door there are some probs with the door locks/handles.Recalls are covered by warrenty. If you can give me info i can check if any recalls needed doing or contact a FIAT dealer and will tell you.

Even I find it totally amazing that Fiats when I was a Nipper the only thing they suffered from was Rust, Well it now looks that they have that problem licked, And It`s only took them about Forty years, so I think What with them in a rush lately to take a bigger chunk of the Uk market & recalls in abundance, I.e My Mk 1 punto so they could scrape the brake pipes & replace worn or leaky ones then coat them in brown jam,& that was all the one`s that have survived since 1993 to 1999, coz before my Punto I had quite a few rusty Uno`s, & apart from their ability to loose parts of the floor whilst I drove, I never had any grief with them mechanicaly or electricaly, & I dont want to knock them Coz Me Punto`s never let me down, unlike sum of the poor bugger`s on here, you all have my sympathy.

Heheh Mazza!
I got the only 1 I would have, the 1.9 Multijet Sporting so its a 130 bhp 3 door and made after the re-call for the safety bracket for the steering column 5* ncap award. Real quick mate like the early Golf GTI but does many more to a gallon! Doesnt rattle or squeek, not yet anyways. Bril brakes, just seems really well put together. Insurance group 6 is very nice too, got it for £9400 with 1600 miles on it. Hoping to hear from other 1.9 owners.

Cheers and beers... Kaypee.

hiya mate
i got this from the fiat mechanic guy on this websit and it works ok on my motorhome which is a ducato 2.3jtd
hope it works for you
make sure the tripp meter is set to miles
hold in the little button on the dash and turn on the ignition hold it in for about 10 seconds and it will say cfg1,cfg2or cfg3 depending on the service intervals when it comes up with this take your finger off the button and press it to select wich one you whant cfg2 is 12000 miles when it is set to that hold the button for another 10 seconds and that should be that like i say this definitly works on my ducato motorhome goog luck the guy that replied to me was mazza who is a fiat mechanic if this does not work try to get hold of him

Hi
Thanks for your offer of help.
We have a Punto Mk2 2001
15 Months ago we had a serious overheat due to the thermostat failing.
After having this fixed the EM light Flashes on at 65 mph ,
lower speed and eventually it goes out

Diagnostics indicate Multiple Missfire.

New plugs and leads recommended and fitted, no difference
So much for Fiat Garages.

My local garage (not fiat) but reputable cannot trace a miss fire, and suggest leaving it until it gets worse, otherwise its an expensive change it and see situation. So far still alright

Any suggestions would be appreciated,

Secondly what is involved in replacing the front passenger CL actuator

Cheers
Stemit

had to drive my parent's 2002 16v punto auto the other day and after about 25miles ish every time I braked the reverse warning chime sounded and the car symbol on the rev counter (the one with the bonnet up) kept flashing on and off.
parked up went and got parents from hotel and on way home same thing after 25ish miles.
Thing is it doesn't happen when they drive it but they only go to the local shops or into nearest town which is 10 miles away.
what does this symbol mean? owners manual just says warning light. Warning of/for what?

I recently bought a 98 bravo HGT. Everything is in reasonable working order but my issue is with the power. i know it is not a gti off the starting blocks, but it is proving very sluggish. i'm currently paying petrol for a litre but getting the performance of a 1.2. the fuel injection light comes on randomly but only stays on for around 10secs. i read in the manual that this is not a problem. could there actually be a problem with the fuel injection??? any help would be very, very much appreciated.

hi
i have had my fiat punto for a bout 6 months, not a bad little car and cheapish, lol, well it would be if it stayed running ok, the speedo has gone, there is no power coming out of the sensor, so i have put a new one on and no difference, appears the drive has snapped, only this looks like a gear box out job, can anyone confirm this, or if not how do you change it?
also since i got it, it has a strange cuttin out problem, it seems to cut out but as soon as you clutch it you can rev it, we have changed the coils, the plugs are new, the car just had an mot so i assume the lambda sensor is ok, does anyone have any ideas, cos it doing my head in and you have to rev it alot at ligghts or stops, as it will stall, its had a head gasket, but runs ok for the rest of the time, and it is ok on fuel, it hink, 34mpg round town, can anyone please help
thanks
jason

Hi Winston, why dont you put in your request under a new heading, including the model year etc, rather than directing it to one person.then we can all have a go at answering it.

Hey Fiat Man, can you help me pleeeez?

I had a puncture in my 1.9 GP Sporting and the can of milk I got to fix punctures was a let down lol!!

Anyways... what steel wheel can I buy as a spare for the GP Sporting with 205/45/17 wheels fitted as standard....? Thinking of a 185/65/15 but not sure this will clear the discs and caliper?

Any idea at all? What would a FIAT dealer sell me? I bought a jack and wheelnut spanner from a Scrappies for £4 but they wont sell wheels and tyres, but I have a friendly tyre fitting station nearby.

Cool as usual Stiggy FIAT man lol!!
I got a GP steely from my dealer for a tenner and shod it with a 175/65/15. It fits the wheel well with the plastic taken out. Got a jack and wheel spanner from a tatters for £4. Tyre was new £40.
£54 and now I can motor in peace again... just gotta make SURE the steely will fit, it came off a GP whos owner upgraded to alloys at purchase so should be okay.

I'll let everyone know ASAP.

Cheers buddy. :-)
