I would never recomend anyone doing this as a diy project, i have been in the finishing trade for over 25 yeras and provide both S.M.A.R.T repair and full bath restoration, using the best possible equipment and materials this is a profesional highly skilled process if you want you bathe to look like new and last. if you just want to tidy up a very poor finish you may wish to DIY using a tubby kit or similar but it will be just a tidy up!

for a trully profesional service or advice please call CHP Finishing 07813 007708 or email [Log in to view email]

Hello There ,yes im fine thanks , ive not posted on here for a while as ive been busy but i have just popped in by accident .
Having read back thru the posts , it seems that all the questions that people are asking tend to come up time and time again , and i think all aspects of resurfacing have been generally covered .
So unless someone asks me personally for information then im happy to be a fly on the wall.
I think we passed on the motorway a while back didnt we .?
I was miles away lol.

Dear Andy,
I forgot to tell everyone about the finale after I had my bath professionally re-enamelled.
The Builders in charge of the renovation dragged the bath along the ground and scratched the rim. They gave incorrect instructions to the Plumber and when I arrived home to view my beautiful bath, there was no floor waste drain, and when the bath taps were turned on, the water hit the floor instead of going into the bath! I guess you could hear me yelling at the poor man from across the world!
Two days later the Plumber returned, said that he had always found me good to work for in the past, and that he could fit spacers to the taps, and put in a floor waste, which would not be great as the floor was dead level, but better than nothing. After yelling at the Builders I haven't seen them since. There are a few things left to do, but I found a decent local guy.
Moral of this story? You cannot trust Builders to make sure all sub-contractors will keep to the Architect's plan. You have to spend big money to get the Architect to be in charge of everything.
Nevertheless, I love my 'new' antique clawfoot bath and I am glad it is over! Another tip. I discovered a bathplug called Smart Plug, which stops baths from overflowing accidentally if someone forgets that they have turned on the taps to fillthe bath!
Best Wishes,
Anne Australia

Hello Andy
Please can you recommend someone resurfacing baths in West London to me? I looked resurfacing up in the Yellow Pages as you suggested some time ago and checked out the ones advertising. None of them would offer more than a 1 year guarantee; a substantial premium would only raise it to 3 years! I have three baths that need urgent attention. Do you ever come to London? I live just off the M4 on the A4 next to Fullers Brewery by the Thames. We are not yet in a congestion zone and there is free parking. Perhaps you could combine resurfacing my baths with some entertainment in London. There is good fast underground transport from here into central London. Rose

Ive just found this site whilst searching on the internet re repairing chips on enamel surfaces of baths. Ive tried a DIY enamel repair kit that is painted on but it isnt a great colour match ( too white) - has anyone any tips?
P.S/ you all seem to be talking about cast iron baths- mine is actual just tin.....and from B&Q.......quite new too, think my husband must have dropped something in it???

Hi Andy,
I can supply spray repair in a variety of shades of white which provide a good match to all white pressed steel, cast iron and acrylic baths.

Hello! Thanks for replying.

Could you give us a bit more info e.g how the colour would be matched and the spray applied? (The area is pretty small - 2mm x 2mm only but is quite visable as its next to the plug hole.)Is this something we could do with a kit ourselves? And how long would it likely last for bearing in mind the wear and tear its suffered so far...? And whats damage £?

hello! Thanks for your reply,
Can you advise us with abit more info e.g-
* how exactly is the colour matched ?
* how is the spray applied ( is it a DIY kit?)The area is pretty small 2mm x 2mm approx but quite deep as its through to the tin!
* Whats the damage ( £) ? - and how long would you say such a spray finish would last? ( bearing in mind the wear and tear the baths suffered so far...)
Thanks.

Call Paul on 07707 884 189. I'd vouch for his customer service, I've seen his work , and I know he has another job to do up Aberdeen way.
PS: I'm not on commission!!
