I would be really grateful if you would share the steps on how to strip and resurface a cast iron bath.
Many thanks,
Stacey.

Hi Chris just joined this and was interested in your comments. Need some advice - we have an enamel bath which we do not want moving. Live in a hard water area and the surface of our bath has lost all it's shine and feels very rough - not just where water has been so cleaning products also to blame. Are we better to resurface or polish? do you cover the Wiltshire area? Also have a sage green suite in the other bathroom - could we get away with recolouring this? ?What cost to do a 3 piece suite and would this be covered with a 5 year warranty? Any advice gratefully received!

Just to help people looking to re-enamel a bath - Have just had our 2 done on information gathered on this forum. Difficult choicee as it's probably not something you have done more than once in your life. The key thing is that you have to have somebody who knows what they are doing and is very meticulous/obsessional (sorry Steve!). We used Thermoglaze and I don't know how this process compares with others. It doesn't leave a mirror-polish surface but a gloss one, slightly bobbled as it's sprayed on. But it appears hard and is quite a thick layer. Skill comes in meticulous prep. including filling, masking off all the fittings and the room and getting an even layer on. The finish is excellent, only one or two tiny pinholes pitted in one bath which are insignificant and won't affect performance.
I would throroughly recommend Thermoglaze/Bath Doctor. You could tell Steve knew what he is doing (I am a chronic hanger-around with workmen I don't know) and he doesn't cut corners. I am not his cousin, his bank manager or been dobbed a fiver for this puff! It is also good value compared with other experienced people.

Hi,
After reading through this forum, I decided to go ahead and have my bath re-enameled. Scott the Bath Doctor has just left and I have to say that he has done an amazing job. I am over the moon. He was very helpful, explained everything he doing, extremely tidy, worked hard and even repaired a chip on my shower tray for for nothing.
He was very friendly and efficient and obviously took pride in his work. I would recommend him to anyone.
Just so you know, I have no connection with him in anyway whatsoever but think a recommendation is great as you no exactly what you are getting.
This is just my personal experience.
Thanks Scott
Louise

Hi,
Has anyone used a resurfacing service in Devon? I can find Bath-Medic, based in Paignton, and Thermoglaze MAY operate here, but a recomendation would obviously be preferable.
Cheers

Hi Cain, I don't know if Thermoglaze operate down there - but if they do , they are the ones to have - vastly superior materials and workmanship compared with a certain other company that operates in that neck of the woods. Hope this helps:-)

I take it you are referring to the other stated company!? There is no need to confirm...!
Thanks for your advice, I have contacted both for comparison.

You're welcome. If the company offers a short warranty be wary and ask why , or if they want to charge more for a longer warranty run for the hills....

Hi
I am Steve from Thermoglaze, great to see more good comments but unfortunately we do not cover Devon. I do however know of a company that can help you and who would be able to use the Thermoglaze product.
Give me a call 08452164418 and we can discuss.
Regards
Steve

Hi, Hope you don't mind me asking, but I live near Burton on trent and spotted that you are in Nottingham. I am looking for an antique bath to put into my old property, either to buy an old one that needs restoring, or finding a company that sells them already restored. Have you had any luck in getting yours restored?

I had my bath re-enamelled some years ago. It looked like new bath when it had been done mind you it was a bit slippery. I no longer have a bath just a shower due to having a disability grant.
