hi sorry for the delays here but our email addresses have gone awol and the website is functioning just on http://www.callendercaravans.sageweb.co.uk Your target 390 was made between 1976 and 1980. The 76 and 77 had glass windows and the later ones had plastic double glazing. i can let you have a copy of the sales brochure if you send me an SAE and which year you want. regards, Mark lewis, Callender Caravans, Scotland rd. Hi for some reason unknown to me they made this t/x model for just that one year which always leaves a question mark? it was one of the earlier end bathroom 4 berth models and quite honestly they never fly out of the gate in twin axle format so 905 are on single wheels. the t/x models sell better with an end bedroom. i would suggest you look closely for damp in the corners particularly in the shower room and make sure the stippled aluminium isnt perforated. regards, Mark Lewis, http://www.callendercaravans.sageweb.co.uk

Hi yes from that number your major is a 1978. has it got glass windows? the major of this year would have gas lamps red stripy 70's upholstery and a blue front panel and a painted steel chassis with a poky gas bottle locker and only one 7 pin plug at the front. The last year they did the "RL" was 1983 when it was called a clubman and had plastic windows. hope this helps regards, Mark Lewis. http://www.callendercaravans.sageweb.co.uk

Thanks Jimbo I will be sending a SAE for the sales brochure but was wondering if you had any details on a 1989 lunar moonlight 16ft. What I would really like would be details of tyre pressures and wheel bolt torque settings. Thanks in advance

Hi, I am looking for a secondhand caravan, can you tell me how I will know that the owner is telling the truth about the vans age? do all vans have a log book of some sort? is there any way of telling by loking at its serial number?
One more thing, i have a 2 litre mondeo, is this capable of towing most 2 berth vans ( end bathroom ) say 16 foot long based on the 85% rule.
cheers

Hi Mark, I am looking for some information on an ABBEY 418T COSALT, either 5 or 6 berth. Having just bought it, I cannot find the chassis number, although there is a space at the bottom, outside the door, where it looks as if a plate has been screwed on. I was led to beleive it to be a 1990/91 model, but I can find no information about it at all, anywhere. It is white/cream on the majority of it, with a gold or green stripe ( my son & I have an ongoing argument about this - he says gold, I say green. The whole of the outside of the van has sort of a stipple effect, it is sloping at the front, with Cosalt accross the front of the locker. It has hot/cold water, oven, grill, blown air heating, gas fire, normal porta potti, very large seating area at front, small seating area at back, which converts to single bunk beds. It is a really lovely van, but I would just like to know more about it. Even if you have a brochure or such like for it, would be most helpful. Thank you. Elizabeth

Hi again, I have some more info about the van. It is actually an ABBEY GT 418T, which was made by COSALT. It is just over 18 feet, not including the towbar. I found some numbers on the metal part of the towbar, under the plastic cover - A622911, AL-KO 120S R/1 AUST. B, PRUZ M360 D8871, plus some german writing. I don't know if this is the chassis number or not. Please let me know - thanks. Elizabeth

Hi Bryan most caravans offered for sale privately are advertised at the wrong age although caravans made after 1992 are registered in the CRIS scheme and should have a log book (although the owners rarely seem to realise this!)Mondeos have a manufacturers tow limit of 1500kg and a kerbweight of around 1300kg giving an 85% of 1100kg ish if you have 4 people aboard i would recommend a caravan not weighing more than 950kg ex works which does limit your choice somewhat regards, Mark http://www.callendercaravans.co.uk

Hi Elizabeth sorry for the delay but i have been on holiday. removing the serial plate from the van is common to disguise the age of caravans. From 92 all the windows would have the vin no. attached. the 418T was made between 1985 and 1989 If it doesnt have a cassette toilet fitted it is pre 1988. unfortunately i would suspect that yours wont have as blown air heating was only fitted till 1987 and from 1988 onwards they had the liquid type central heating system with radiators around the caravan. No wonder the identity number has been removed! sorry for the bad news regards, Mark http://www.callendercaravans.co.uk

Thanks for the info Mark, Does the awning have to be exactly 740cm or will slightly shorter/longer awnings fit? Also I have seen awnings advertised by caravan length. As my van body is 12' will a 12' awning fit properly? Cheers again Mark !
