Hi Mark,
I have just bought an ABI ACE VICEROY caravan. Have been told its '91'.
17ft long (excluding A frame), has gold/bronze? band around middle.
Any idea what year it might be?
Thanks
Donna

Hi Donna the viceroy was "green" 1987 to 1991. In 92 it had 2 front windows rather than the older one piece bow fronted window. i presume its not a jubilee model so in which case your description indicates its 1985 or 1986. Has it got "Ghia" written on the side? I would guess it has the grey shower room/vanity basin and the oatmeal coloured enamel kitchen sink drainer and hob? If you email me a pic. of it i can confirm the age or you should find a VIN no. on the nearside of the aframe as it goes under the caravan regards [Log in to view email]

Mark,
Thanks for the info. You are correct, it has one bow fronted window. It is not a jubilee model, it does indeed have a ghia badge on the side. It also does have an oatmeal enamel kitchen sink drainer and hob. Will try and attempt to use my "rubbish" digital camera and take a photo. So its likely to be 1985 or 86. On that age, I paid £2,000 for it, would that be a fair price for it.
Thanks
Donna

Hi Kate Im blushing!!! The Adria was manufactured in what was Yugoslavia and they are still being imported today. they have recently become part of Fleetwood Caravans. Becausethey were mainly made for the continent they had the door on the opposite side, were a bit boxy, didnt have a carpet or a grill and were a bit "blue" and dark inside BUT they were very well made and good value for money. If ithasbeen lookedafteryou will get many years useout of it. To my knowledge the A range toura came in a 350 12foot 4 berth, or a 410 14 foot4 berth and was made between 1987 and 1990. Sounds like you got a reasonable buy?? Happy Camping! regards, Mark http://www.callendercaravans.co.uk

hi Donna yep its most likely 85. Larger family vans do hold their value pretty well. If it is clean and dry and has hot water you have done ok but I wish people didnt sell their vans 5 or 6 years the wrong age it is so frustrating obviously if it had been 1991 you would have a bargain. an 85 was £4899 when it was new!! regards, Mark

Hi Cheryl the Europa 480 was made in 1983 and 1984 (the earlier ones being the 470 model) You should find a chassis number on a plate on the nearside of the A-frame this will specify the year. Hope this is of help regards, mark http://www.callendercaravans.co.uk

hi cheryl. no. 480 sounds right. i presume itwas made by "C.I." and not "Sterling". If it has a seperate gas bottle locker on the front it will be early 80's. If it has an integral (built in) bottle box with sloping front then it is newer. has it got the VIN no. on the windows? what age did you think it was?

Hi didn't have a clue to be honest!! It's our first caravan. I put down a deposit on it and my husband hasn't even seen it yet!!!!! Abit of a panick now! The total price is £800. Does that seem abit steep bearing in mind i live in the highlands of scotland where 16ft 4 berth for that money are like hens teeth!!!!!
Hope so.doesn't have slopping front( i don't think!!)
Thanks again
Cheryl

We have just bought an ABI Award Transtar MK 4 - Serial No: 267479A - Ch No: 290755 - It is in showroom condition, includes full awning, spare wheel, gas cylinder and step and we paid £2,950 for it. We have been told it is 1991, but there are no dates on any of the documents to confirm this. Are you able to help - also, perhaps an opinion as to whether the price we have paid is reasonable.
Many thanks
Enid

Hello Mark
I am going to view a Monza 1000T. It says it is 1988, how can I check and what should I look out for (other than obvious damage / damp)

Hi Dave Would you believe the 1000T was discontinued in 1982!! it then became a "300" (ie 3metres instead of 10'If you can let me have the serial no. i will probably have a record of it. Obviously it is much older than stated!! regards, Mark. http://www.callendercaravans.co.uk

Nice to see you caught this one in time Mark, just seen a Bessacarr Cadeby for sale on 'e-bay' as an 1985, while in fact it's a 1977 model.
