its 1992 mike. If u ring CRIS on 01722 411430 they will confirm the van details. they will also ask you the registered keepers name and address. If you do not know it or if the person u got it off isnt the "keeper" they will write to the parties involved to confirm you are the rightful "keeper". At this point you can pay them £10 and get a logbook in your name. good luck! Mark

The tenth digit usually identifies the year and being an N it would be a 1992

Mark, where do you get the energy? You must have RSI by now! I'm renovating a CI SPRITE ALPINE C 1985(SCU00X85521557)and getting close to completion now the damp has dried out and rotten wood's been replaced along the rear wall. Only the interior wallboards to fit up now(what fun). Unfortunately the kitchen unit has come away from the top of the wall inside and I can't figure out how to re-attach it - any ideas? It's amazing how fragile they are underneath the wallboards, and makes one drive more carefully! I managed to get a replacement handbook from http://www.swiftleisure.co.uk who have been great. Would you by any chance have a sales brochure or other interesting stuff like original price? Let me know how big the sae needs to be and address to send it to if yes. Oh, and get yourself on Mastermind w caravans as your specialist subject - you'd win.

hi Phil. You make me feel modest! I have energy for doing this but not for mending a 1985 sprite! Good luck to you with your project. If mkemory serves me right they were peel riveted from underneath the top of the units, but before the appliances were fitted so you may struggle. I would suggest a batton or angle bracket up the corners and across the back but beware there is not really any wood around to screw into so you may need cavity fixers or peel rivets (tidily of course) Yes I have the brochure and price list etc. If you want to send me an SAE in a largish envelope with a couple of stamps on and a quid in unused stamps i will send photocopies. regards, Mark

Nice one Mark! I liked the term "may struggle" particularly!! By the way, are those peel rivets you mention the lovely little things hidden in polystyrene insulation that slice chunks out of unwary fingers? I think as this is the last stage, I'll figure something out eventually. I'm looking forward to getting this thing on the road as it's my first time towing a caravan - revenge will be sweet, relaxing in some quiet field with a glass of scottish medicine. Well, at least it sounds good...will get the sae off shortly to the address on your website. Thanks again for your help.

Could you not check the tow hitch? the date is usually stamped on there or on the a frame, unless of course the tow hitch as been swapped.

hi, yes your caravan is a 1993, if you read the 10th digit in the chassis number it is a p, statring at 1992 is n, there is no 0, p is 1993, have you had it hpi, if not phone cris, it should have the numbers etched on the windows, it doesnt sound good to me.

Hi Mark, what do you mean "everybody's gone quite", I'm flat out putting Carver Cascades back together after all that 'lovely' frost!. Shouldn't say it really but it's what creates the work and that makes the money.
Or do you mean this site?, I know posts are still going missing, I put a post on to tell those whose own post did not show up to email direct and got three replies!!, perhaps you should do the same?. Gary
