Thank you so much Mark, I really appreciate it.
The old awning my parents gave her from their old van is SO old fashioned she refuses to put it up! She reckons it looks like a Big Top - and I am pretty sure the colours were orange and khaki. So really, a newer looking one in anywhere near the right size is a bonus.
thanks again.
Tracy.

Hi Mark, found this Bessacarr on ebay and it's got me confused, yeah alright I know lol
I know your not strong on the 70's but my first thought was this is the previous model to the SE range which I believe started life in 1977?
Everything else says it's younger but I've not seen one like it? did this run along side the SE range for a while? this would explain the indentical woodwork?
I'ts got blown air and that gas fire was current in 79/80, I'm ignoring the plastic windows though assuming Bessacarr used plastic long before 79?

Confused
Gary

Hi Gary LOL you are definately confused cos this is a BUCCANEER not a Bessacarr....... I would say anyway that your prediction of 1977 is correct and yes that was the first year they fitted plastic windows. The fridge is obviously a "later" refit and probably the heater too? It has had a lot of modifications like the bunks, upholstery and blinds. I love all the spellings of the following words in the description - Misstakenly, Refridgerator, Apliances, Loverly, Uphostery, Cuboards, Ariel, Nessasary. Go and have a lie down now Gary :---))

Cause it is!, when I first saw it from the outside it was 'obviously' a Buccaneer but on the inside that kitchen is identical to a Bessacarr's and I mean identical I lived with one for long enough!
That's what was throwing me, thanks Mark

PS. I think someones going to be asking for the age of another ebay bargain, Monza 1200S with separate gas locker and bright red/maroon stripe? tartan type big check upholstery?
Fore warned is fore armed!

Hi fyneart, Camskill have got a good deal on with 165/80/R13 just now and free delivery mainland!! For a couple of pounds more you could go for 8 ply

http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.php?pl......=m27b0s498p6275

PS, no I don't work for them!! Actually I came on to Preloved to ask Mark a similar question.

Hi Mark, Any idea please, what size tyres I should should be putting on my Abbey Oxford? I've just found cracks in one of my Tyfoon 175 R 13C Steel Belt Radial 8 Ply. I've got them off to clean up the rims and drums, inflated them to 55psi and whoops!! Would 185's fit ok? Any idea what would have been original? Thanks muchly,
Regards, Keith

Hi fyneart yeah this is the one Gary was on about last week and yes it is a 1980 Monza 1400CT (not GT). It was £2096 when new 28 years ago and its ex. works weight was 680kg. As for changing the spec. of the tyres it can be risky beacuse of insurance implications - they do have the habit of turning their backs when original specification has been "altered or modified" when a claim is submitted. Good luck, Mark

Thanks for that Mark, 630kg empty, you don't happen to know the likely gross weight do you, I'd of thought a little less than 800kg would be sensible but not sure?

The originals will have been 155xR13. In those days when caravans were basic and lighter in weight they didnt normally use commercial type tyres. Safety is certainly more in peoples minds nowadays so with that in mind and the fact that your Monza could now well be fitted with fridge, heater, oven, electric etc and you are probably carrying an awning a couple of bikes a porta potti (seen in the description) a TV/video/DVD/hard drive/satellite/MP3 playing iPod and a barbecue you could already be over the gross weight before you pack your cornflakes! In which case get the highest rated 155 you can find. 155's are very rarely used on any new caravans nowadays. Happy hunting,

mark im looking at three tyres for the monza 1400ct, which would you recommend on the 13 inch wheel

i dont care about price just safety, (oh and no tv/dvd/sat or built in fridge but i do have a 14ltr fridge from argos.....lol)

the reason for thinking at first a 165 rather than 155 was that on another forum it was mentioned and it made sense to have a little more rubber on the road but could you confirm to me that that would be a mistake and that i should stick to the 155.. thanks mark i do appreciate your help.

the 165 i was looking at was the
