Hi Mark, if there is no info as to the original model and serial numbers of a caravan, and this will be true for some of the vintage/veteran ones, isn't it possible to CRIS it anyway thereby getting a serial number for insurance purposes?

Hi Mark, I have it back home now, is there such thing as a workshop manual or some documentation to show me how the various components are supposed to work so i can tell what's missing and what needs doing etc? what would you need to give me an age and where would i find it? the only plate i can see on the a frame shows some weights and the name sigma 2 there is a sticker inside with dimensions but nothing that would resemble a serial/chassis number. would a photo help? It does indeed have glass windows so as you say it is a 70s model.

Kind regards

Steve

Hi Steve if its a Sigma it will be the old B&B chassis from the mid/late 70's If you look on the nearside chassis rail under the front of the van you should find a white B&B chassis plate. Quite honestly a Piper that age would'nt have had many fittings in it as standard eg fridge, heater, oven, electric would have been extra. You can buy a Haynes workshop manual which sells for around £10 and gives a general guide to most components. Regards, Mark

Hi there,
We have just been given an ABI Ace Award 14/4, I believe the serial number is 50700 (I forgot to write it down), I was wondering if you could please tell me how old it is, and anything else that you can tell me about it, as we know nothing about it and are new to caravanning!
Many thanks
Emma

Hi Emma your Award will be either 1980 or 1981. 1980 had a "Morco" space heater. 1981 had a "Carver" space heater. Regards, Mark

Hi Stacey thanks for your email I'm afraid from your serial number that your recently purchased 1992 Colchester is actually a 1985 model. Regards, Mark

Hi Hazel the Cambrian 2 was made from 1985 to 1994. They made a one off goodbye GXL model in 95. Pre 92 the serial number was on a plate above the door, they then went on to the 17 digit CRIS system. Sorry i've given up with handbooks but can copy a brochure once you know the year. Regards, Mark

Hi Dave yes it probably says ABMK1 in which case it is either 1988 or 1989. Quite simply the 88 was "blue" and the 89 was "brown". Cheers, Mark
