Thanks Mark (I was being Sarky bout the Ford Ka BTW, as it seems they cant afford family saloons anymore so are offering tiny ones for the same rental money!) We already tow a Pennine Aztec (replaced by Apollo in later years) so were looking for a cheap car. We've now purchased a Ford Granada complete with towbar and electrics and as they towed a 5 berth Monza with it we used that as a guide. Who knows in 2 years time they could offer us a Range Rover as a car but I doubt it!

An 81 Abbey GT212 has an awning size of 747-777cm. Parts are available from a decent accessories shop like ours! regards, Mark http://www.callendercaravans.co.uk

Hi Alek sounds like one of the last ones CI made in the 70s before they went on to the Harrison chassis. They were made 1976-78 but from your serial number it appears to be a 79 season model. It was just over 10 ft long. 6ft 7" wide. 4 berth, and weighed just 480kg !! as you say it had a brown front panel and will still have had the original glass windows. Hope this helps. Thanks Mark, for your quick reply. Tha parts that i was looking for were mainly to do with the water system, because the connections are of the older type and i cannot find any at any of my local camping accessory shops, ie Towsure or at CCC in Sheffield. Do they still make these connections, especially the pump connection that connects to the caravan? Thanks Mark once again for your help, your site is the greatest.

Hi Richard sorry i dont really understand your question. In 81 Abbey used the Whale GP51 Foot pump combined combined with the GP74 electric pump. From what you say it may have been modified by "DIY enthusiast"? Is it an inboard pump or is it a submersible that stands outside in the water container?

Mark, We've since driven out to the van and found the following info:
Whitely Caravans 4018 on one plate. H113737 stamped on the bar under the Gaz bottle holder. Its been painted over so amny times this could be wrong. Plate with CI Alpine X80/1638 760 on it. Does this mean it is a 1980 model? If so does anyone have the brochure? And what's its weight? The 12V electrics are cut off (wires actually cut)so the electric pumps for the sinks dont work. Not a problem as we can fill sinks from a carrier. But some lights (bathroom and over door) are from the 12V circuit so if we park up overnight its torch time! We have a Genny but its not always practical to run it up and not polite when kids are asleep. The Brochure should give us an idea of the wiring?
Many thanks
Jules x

Hi Angi The Europa Azure was one of the later Europas to be made. According to my records it was made in 1983 but as a 480 model. The 470 Europas were previous to this so it is possibly an 82 model. I would assume the hot water system is heated by a Carver Cascade Mk.1 boiler? this would be about right. There should be a CI serial plate on the nearside of the gas locker/ Aframe. Hi Jules. Yes the Sprite is a 1980. Yes I have a brochure but it wont tell you anything about wiring. It had an ex works weight of 595kg but this is before any DIY over the years! If you want a photocopy of the brochure send me an SAE and £2.00 in stamps. Regards, Mark http://www.callendercaravans.co.uk

Mark, I got a submersible pump, a whale supersub 88 electric pump (GP 8815), that came with the caravan. I am wanting to know if the actual connection for this type of pump, that is attached to the caravan is still available, i can't find one anywhere. Thanks Mark....
Richard.

Hi. Flippin heck i am amazed. Yes this chassis number confirms the Elddis Mistral is a 1976. This doesnt happen very often they are nearly always older. Congratulations to the people who 'gave' it to you. Regards, Mark
