Hi everyone,

This is a topic that comes up over and over again on the caravanning forums, and has always been the source of much confusion. We have therefore just posted a message to our new blog, summarising the current situation, the implications of ignoring the law, and linking to Kaiko2107's camaign to get the law changed.

Hope it is of help.

If you drive a vehicle that has a Gross Vehicle Weight in excess of 3500kgs but does exceed 7500kgs then this cannot be driven on a Category B car licence..it requires a Category C1 licence..However for anyone who passed their car test prior to 1st January 1997 this is no problem as you have got C1 on your licence automatically ( along with some other categories ).. The problem only arises for anyone passing a car test after that date
