My Relay was not white! it was Black! as you look under the bonnet it is at the back, under a cover tust to the right of centre, the wiring loom goes up there and also a pipe to the Map sensor. the cover is held on by one screw/Bolt.

Woz deffinately Injector with mine!!!! Just made more difficult because the second one I got was duff too!

my daughters 1600 sporting will not start no spark whatsoever changed ecu immobiliser coil pack crank sensor key light goes out so no problem there any ideas ??????

hi does your engine turn over? if so check for a spark, if you have a spark check to see if there is any fuel going in. also i had a rare case on one of the punto`s that i repaired where everything seemed fine but it just would not go, i eventually got to the spark plugs which looked fine but i changed them anyway just in case {i reccommend champion eon plugs as they perform so well in punto`s} the car started first turn of the key.

i`ve got a spark,got petrol,checked the relay and ok.still won`t start.got a diagnostic check done & all seemed ok.checked timing which was out by 1cm ?.reset timing car starts 1st time but now have a little orange engine light flashing.car seems to be running ok,is this dangerous or will it do any damage.thanks tommyd

hi everyone, new here just wondered if anyone could help.
i recently changed the engine in my 98 punto everything looked ok but for some reason it wont start it turns over but will not fire at all,i had the AA out to it and they checked everything,there is no power to the coils or the injectors,he tested the big white relay and said that it was getting power to it from the ignition but not sending it to where it should be going , has anyone else come across this particular fault before and if so HELPPPPPPPPPPP please im pulling my hair out

unfortunately the big white relay is probably at fault, it seems to suffer from weather damage simply because it should have been put inside the car like the other relays, you can pick this relay up from any scrapyard for a couple of quid, fiat will charge a small fortune for a new one.
also if your battery has been off for some time your ecu may need reprogramming.

HI I HAVE A P REG PUNTO SX AND IT WILL NOT START I HAVE CHACK THE SPARK PLUG AND LEADS THAY SEEM FINE. I HAVE DISCONECTED THE PIPE FROM THE CARBRETER AND THERE IS NO FUEL COME FRU WHEN KEY IS TURNED. PUT FUEL IN CARB IT TURNS OVER THEN DIES. CAN SOMONE HELP IS THERE A FUEL FILTER UNDER THE CAR AND COULD IT BE MY PETRAL PUMP PLEASE HELP ME. THANK DANNY7

HI Danny,
Sounds like Fuel Pump Relay! its at the back right hand side as you lok under the bonett under a black plastic cover, if not it may be the pump but I doubt it, the pump can be reaced under the back seat!
the fuel filter is in front of the right hand rear wheel, be careful not to pull on the pipes too much, one of them will cause the fuel pump to break! dont think it is the filter as I would expect to get at least something through it, Relay is fave as I have heard of lots of probs with them!!!! Could be the inertia fuel switch tripped out. Not sure whether its under the bonnet or passenger seat.

hi i have a problem with my fiat punto 1.8 HGT w reg
it wont start and i cant seem to hear my petrol pump.
atm the battery is also dead so would need to charge that up before i try anything.
can anyone advise me on what i should do??

i have a t reg punto automatic when it i left over night it wont start in the morning but if i get ajump start of some one it starts staight away leave it for a few hrs and it wont start again we have had the plugs changd new battery an i stll does it can anyone help

hi tammy, if you turn your ignition on but don`t try to start the engine are your warning lights all lit up brightly or are they dim?

they are all bright but i have been toldit could be the fuel because if the car is left te carb is dry and wont start but if you put petrol in it it will start will start but any advice would b helpfull please thank you

If you can put a capful of fuel into throttle housing and engine starts every time then do following:-
Thoroughly clean the fuel pump relay pins and connections.
Check that the inertia fuel switch has not tripped out.
Check the fuel pump works by supplying a feed into it where the relay does.
