there could be a different thing you could have checked, on older cars which were fitted with carburetters they had a choke to help with cold starting but the fuel injection system has to use an extra injector to compensate for not having a choke, if this injector is not working you will have terrible trouble starting from cold but when the engine is warm it will start every time. i suggest that you have your fuel injection unit checked out.

Never heard of the extra injector before, all you need to do to supply more fuel is to open the injector/s you have for a longer period.

assuming that you have the right battery fitted and it is in perfect working order one simple thing you can try is to take the battery clamps off the two lugs, get a piece of sandpaper and clean the lugs and more importantly the inside of the battery clips, then put them back on and tighten them properly, sometimes the simplest things cause the most grief.

Hi, you seem to know what youre talking about so can you please advise me on what to do??...Ive got a r reg punto 1.2 sx and it wont start. Engine was running quite hot prior to this fault but has always started in the past. Battery healthy, I have a spark on each of 4 plugs. Removed airbox to expose throttle/injector body- spray can be seen when engine turns over. Checked oil level and ok(not emulsified). Engine does turn over but there is no sign of it even trying to 'catch'. Even tried 'bump' starting it-and nothing. Can you please help?

even if you have a spark on the plugs it doesn`t mean they are working properly, if your car was running quite hot they could be knackered, i had a punto 55 which would not start it too had a spark and seemed ok but just would not start, i changed the plugs and it started first turn of the key. the best spark plugs to use are champion eon plugs they are pricey but work well.

mixture problems are usually related to the lambda sensor, it is located on the exhaust downpipe by the engine, assuming that you have a decent air filter the lambda sensor probably needs to be changed.

Hi
i have a Fiat Punto 52 Reg, 1.2 8 Valve. We changed the engine but the car does not seem to want to fore up. We have had a computer on it and there are no problems highlighted. There is a good spark and petrol is coming through with no problem.
The car wants to start but does not fire up.
Would appreciate any help.
Thanks
