Hi,
My daughter purchased her first car 2 days ago,a Fiat Punto Sporting 1600v P reg. for £600.It is a lovely car to drive, but coming home tonight a red warning light kept coming off and on.It is the one that comes on with the oil and battery signs. We have no manual to look the problem up.Can anyone please advise, rather anxious ....
Thanks

If the warning light on the dashboard sort of looks like a hose nosel with water spraying out then it is the fuel injection warning light. I have a Fiat Bravo HGT and this light comes on intermittently. Acoording to fiat this is not a problem, if the light stays on then it is. it will reduce the performance of the car and the fuel economy.

Yes,that is the sign! Drove it to the garage yesterday (but it was closed),it was only a short journey, but the sign did not come on.When I googled the problem it said something about dampness - and there was torrential rain on Friday! I wouldn't think the car should be affected by the weather though!....

The good news is that its not going to damage anything. The problem is that one of the sensors is occasionally out of range. There's not too many on that engine, possibilities could be:-
Poor MAP sensor reading,(cracked vac hose, faulty MAP).
Lambda sensor needs replacing.
Air leaks in inlet manifold area.
Temperature sensor/s.
The 8 valve model regularly jump a cambelt notch, not sure about 16v though.
