All owners of Bull Terriers,Staffords,Rotties,Dobermans,Rhodesian Ridgebacks,Akitas,Tosa,American Pit Bulls and (amazingly)German Shepherds, your dogs are in grave danger.
Dublin County Council has announced a blanket ban of all of these breeds from its flats, houses and estates.
Owners are told they have a "reasonable"(unspecified)time to find their beloved friends alternative homes. If this cannot be found their dogs will be seized by wardens and destroyed!
Today Ireland, tomorrow England,Scotland and Wales, and soon?not just council homes but all over.
Human "animals"are able to fight, rape, get drunk and violent and be as abusive as they like without the courts doing anything but "tut-tut" at them but poor innocent dogs, often in the hands of those above-mentioned are condemmed.
Please if you are at all concerned go to the Dog World website at-http://www.dogworld.co.uk anddownload a copy of their letter to send to your M.P.
ACT NOW!! Tomorrow could see your pet seized, taken away and destroyed.

i said ages ago that this would happen. soon a lot of people who slated pb,s because of bad press will know how i have felt for the last 6yrs. i even moved out into the country so it was safe for jake. its not the people who need protection from the dogs. its the dogs that need protection from the people. this is a disgrace. now every one might stand up and take notice and do something about it before its to late.

Please tell me more about this.Which part of England and which council?
I have no axe to grind,I have no working or bull breeds except an ancient Stafford bitch(and really have no desire to own one,I am a hound person) but I see a future in which dogs of any breed will play no part at all,and I would like to think that if hounds were under threat all dog-lovers would rally.
I have met some of the threatened breeds that I would trust with a child and have met some that quite frankly would be better off put to sleep.I know this will call forth a lot of controversy but most of the problems rest with the owners and the breeders who have such small regard for the puppies they breed that they will send them off with anyone who has the readies, regardless of whether that pup will be a valued member of the family or used as a threat or a deterrant to criminals.
ACT NOW!!It could be your breed next.

OUT OF ORDER ---- Hi there in my fit of panic i have contacted the Kennel Club and they have stated that DEFRA will not or never will add German Shephards Rottie;s or Dobermans to the Dangerous Dogs Act the four breeds that are registered are PIT BULL, JAPENESE TOSA, DOGO ARGENTION, FILA BRASILEIRO
Also be aware that if these type of dogs are tattooed microchipped and muzzled AND CASTRATED/NEUTERED.whilst in public places they will be fine. I understand your'e concern but i do believe you are having people panicking needlessly As i have two shephards you state they are regarded as Dangerous Dogs likewise with Staffie's absoulote bang out of order, Kennel Club States that this is not the case ANYONE CONCERENED PLEASE EMAIL KENNEL CLUB WHOM ARE MORE THAN HAPPY TO PROVIDE INFORMATION.

I did say that this law concerning the stated breeds was in COUNCIL owned properties in DUBLIN.
My concern(given the growing anti-dog situation) is that these laws WILL spread to other countries.
Did you go to the web-site mentioned? That will tell you more.
I can understand that you are concerned with your breeds but my point was to alert ALL dog owners, whether they have these breeds or not.
At the rate things are going owning a dog will be as anti-social as smoking in an enclosed public place.Did you even dream a few years ago that you would be arrested for having a puff in your local?!!
Be aware is all I am saying.Don't be complacent!!

How come they can say your not to have these breeds when a lot of x-breeds can be a lot worse.

If it ever comes over here there are going to be a lot of breeds filling up dogs homes or running the streets. Also what will happen to these dogs when people dont want to give them up. The poor dogs will be hidden in lock ups or in sheds.

I can understand where they are coming from low. Many people get these breeds only for show and to look hard and dont think about looking after the dog or training it so it's not the dogs fault they have never been around kids or other dogs.

that is good to know. It is still a slight worry that obviously certain councils are trying to make it happen though! I think it is still best to be prepared.

If you live in the Rochdale council area and you move into a counci ground floor flat/bungalow for the over 55`s you can only have an assistance dog. I know because I lived in a ground floor flat (mixed ages) and was allowed a dog but then they moved me because of probs with neighbours nothing was said at first bout the dog but in July last year we were all told that we could keep the pets we had but if/when they died they were not to be replaced. Policy from June2006 no pets for over 55`s moving into council flats/bungalows.

thats terrible. especially considering how it has been proven that animals reduce stress and people with pets generally tend to live longer! Some hospitals even have people visiting some wards with dogs for the patients to pet as it has proven to be beneficial!!!
I can understand the council having having the no dogs rule in some of its flats, I never got dogs while I was in a flat as it didnt seem right. But no cats or dogs even if you have a garden is just bloody ridiculous!!!!!

hi there, i am not absolutely sure but i have heard that apparantly dublin have backed down and are now trying to deny that they ever passed this rule !!! i myself love my gsd's and couldnt get rid of them for the world, i believe everyone should if they wish and are responsible enough have the opportunity to own a companion no matter how old, rich or poor, dogs especially are very therapeutic especially to those with illness or depression, i you see have ms and i live for my dogs. always have had two at a time you see. i even walk my sam when on bad days and have to use my good old mobility scooter haha.
