Towing a bilge Keeler
Messages 1 to 2 of 2.
Does anyone have any advice on towing a bilge keeler? I need to move a Leisure 17 which has no trailer. The cheapest option seems to be to hire a flat bed trailer, and lay it on that. It just worries me that this may be dangerous/ damage the boat. Looking at proper bilge keel trailer, all that seems to have is to platforms, one for each keel, and a support of the bow, which doesn't look like it takes any weight, just stops the boat overtaking the tow vehicle under heavy braking. Any advice? Or anyone got a trailer for a Leisure 17 they would be willing to sell/lend me? Many thanks Ian

I cant see any problem with towing a bilge keeler on a flatbed trailer, after all they sit on the keels whent the tide is out!! Just make sure that she is well secured and take it easy!! Yo might want to protect the keels with something...eg an old carpet? Alan
