Am trying this avenue will see how we get on. Lloyds is another approach. Anyone got the original layout drawings? Or Brochure. Winter refit includes...to date: 1. Relocate battery charger and 240v switch panel out of stbd locker to under berth aft of battery locker. 2. Replaced batteries - found great supplier, please email if details req'd. They are sealed with glass matt between sheets. 3. Replaced 12v switch panel 4. Replaced all navigation instruments, as a result the stbd head has been completely rebuilt to rewire the cockpit repeaters. 5. Installed Radar. 6. Replaced exhaust gasket from headblock..had been leaking some time. 7. Injectors being overhauled. 8. Winches overhauled. 9. Relaced all hatches. 10. Re-rigging mainsheet,so can be played from the track via cleat or by rigging "dead end" along boom down through to halyard winch can be ground down even harder. No winch in cockpit footwell anymore, hurrah! 11. Teak decks re-dressed and caulked, used to be 12mm teak, have refitted over 300 screws, cockpit was a right off and has been replaced (£500), used scrapped cockpit teak for plugs on my new 300 holes! Also, forget the unoiled look, all new deck will be oiled for longevity of repairs. (LOOKS LIKE NEW) 12. Hull being re-epoxied, faired andati-fouled. 13. Advice on how to seal the mast appreciated, have ideas but succesful guidance always useful. 14. New mainsail to raise the boom height, as I am fairly tall, boom will be parallel with the deck. Shawn

"13. Advice on how to seal the mast appreciated, have ideas but successful guidance always useful." I just fixed ours a week ago. Get an inner tube. Generally I get one from a repair shop that installs tires. They have old ones lying around and give them away. Cut across the inner tube near the valve stem to create a "pipe". Then slit it open lengthwise so that it will lie more or less flat in a single thickness. Cut the inner tube to a length of about 1.25 times the circumference of the mast, discarding the part with the valve stem. Position a long hose clamp around the mast above the deck. (You may have to string two long hose clamps together.) The distance above the deck should be a little less than the width of the inner tube. Leave plenty of space between the clamp and the mast, which means someone should hold it for you. Wrap the inner tube around the mast above the clamp and slide it DOWN inside the hose clamp from above. Position tube and this first clamp so that the tube will reach the flange at the deck when draped over the top of the clamp. Tighten the hose clamp very tight now, because it will not be visible or accessible after the next step. Now fold the inner tube down over the clamp, and clamp the bottom to this skirt to the flange at the deck level with a second, even longer, hose clamp. Take rigging tape, the type the sticks to itself, and tape over the valley at the top of the new boot from about an inch above to about an inch below the top of the boot. You now need to close the vertical seam where the tube overlaps itself coming around the mast. Ideally the seam will be open facing aft. I have used silicone sealant before. This time I taped over it with duck tape and covered it with our decorative canvas boot cover. I am not sure how this will work when we have green water on deck. Anyone have a good idea how to close this seam? It has been pouring rain, and so far, it is completely watertight.
got it out and found nr 3 cyl had picked up - so needs new shells on big ends and mains and new rings and ideally liner and piston on nr 2 cylinder. Have decided to replace completely with new Yanmar (local agent got me a great deal) 40 horse - so my old engine available for spares or repair at reasonable price - otherwise will probably rebuild and then sell it. The Yanmar looks like fitting in really easily - about a days work for the engineers changing the beds slightly then a pretty staright slot in - and it will save over 100 kilos of weight at the back end! Roger
Will let you know how I get on. Best regards. Shawn.
Graphix is for sale in cruising trim. She returned from the Caribbean last June and if she is unsold by early summer I will taker her back again. Email me for a pdf file describing her inventory and recent replacements. Ron Winn
Does anyone know how many S 41:s were produced and where the are today (are most still in the UK?). As far as I know there is no S41 in Sweden (yet..) Adverts Currently On Preloved - Place an ad here for free

jst bought Scehawk of Tamar. Sigma 41 MH in Spain-love her to death what a great sailing machine. Now to the nitty gritty-anyone out there know how much the area of the bottom is. I have a guy quoting for bottom treatment at 42 metres square-and its pricey. Candida if you are reading what was your main sailplan for the crossing West-East to the Caribbean? What was crossing time/average speed-just so I know how many cans of beans we need! Thanks for any help regards
Congratulations - she is a really nice boat - we were moored alongside in 2003 in La Rochelle for about a week during our cruise down to Portugal - what happened to the plan to liveaboard and go on do you know - really nice couple owned her then. 42 square metres sounds not far away from reality - but thats a gut feeling not a definite! We took 18 1/2 days Canaries - St Lucia - tried twin headsails but really hadn't got it properly prepared - so ended up with mainly main and nr 2 - we used spinnaker quite a bit but lost the hallyard for about 10 days until I could get up the mast in a quiet(ish) patch to re- reeve. I reckon that twin headsails would be as quick as most and with a properly sorted system would be minimum chafe. We are 3/4 rigged and have a fully battened main and the chafe on the main and battens against the rig was not good news - had to have quite a lot of repairs in St Lucia and battens on just made it! We went 5 five up (2 hours on 8 hours off overnight! I like my pit) and it was really comfortable if you want to email I can give you more info ref provisions etc. email address is [Log in to view email] Roger
we have been in Saltjösbaden near Stockholm with our Sigma 41 "Evergreen" and have seen a Sigma 41 their. It seems that it needs a little refurbishment, but don't know if the owner wants to sell. Otherwise I think in Europe you will find enough possibilities to buy one. If you are intersted to see a photo of the Sigma in Saltjöbaden, please contact me on [Log in to view email] In this case I can send you a lot of further information about the Sigma. Armin
of course I mean East to West! Old owners really nice people had a change of plans- have email if you want it. Wow good passage time- I must see if I can investigate the Twisle rig-any one used one? the chafe on the main sounds a bit of a prob. Would love to hear about your provisioning and refrigeration my address [Log in to view email] Does anyone use either a monitor or Hydrovane with the S41?cheers Jon
