Then we were getting petrol up to the engine i have had new plugs the timing has been checked and i have had it put on a diag machine no faults. The engine turns over but doesn't start does anyone have any ideas as to what could be wrong the car is R reg 1.8

hi, i have a 1998 freelander, mine cut out and wouldn't start again, the problem was high tension lead to the coil, unplugged it spread the end gave it a clean had no problem since, also are you getting spark at plugs?, take oil cap off to check for oil+water mix, it's not been filled with diesel by any chance?, hope you find the fault, Bob.

They suffer with ht lead problems, mainly the king lead as the rubs against the air box, check or replace the rotor arm too just to be sure and you wont have a problem. The ht leads never last long!! If you dont fancy a set, but the individual ones from time to time!
