Hi just got a caravan (1st one) I want the wiring diagram for the Zig C.F.6. power supply/charger unit. Also does anyone have info on the wiring inside the caravan (1986 Elddis Shamal GT) I have found loads of sites with the 12S wiring but not on how the van is wired to the plug.

thanks

Hi, I've just seen your post re: Zig CF8. I would very much like a copy of the Zig CF8 manual if you still have it available.

Many thanks

Steve

Why were at it, my question is should the CF8 give out 14.5 volts? If so does it drop back to 13.8v,(float), on it's own or are you supposed to switch it off?

Hi all readers

ZIG are still manufacturing caravn units. Their address and telephone number is:

ZIG Electronics Ltd
Saxon Business Park
Hanbury Road
Stoke Prior
BROMSGROVE
B60 4AD

Tel: 01527 556715

When I needed some information about their unit fitted in my old Lynton Lance D van I asked for their help and got it very quickly. I did enclose an SAE for their reply.

As I understand it, battery voltage should never exceed 14.1 volts, otherwise major gassing of the battery develops. This in turn then writes the battery off in quite a short while.

I hope this helps.

Peter

Got this from another site:-

Check the back of the Zig unit. If it's a CF8, then the wires running into the back are quite simple.

From the left hand side, you should find a connector block numbered from 1, through to 11.

1 and 2 are fed from the split charge relay from the engine charging circuit.

3 and 4 go to the liesure battery

On the Zig unit, ALL ODD NUMBERS are NEGATIVE, ALL EVEN NUMBERS are POSITIVE DO NOT MIX THEM UP.

Terminals 5 and 6 are normally used for the water pump

7 and 8 for another peice of kit, such as an extractor fan,

9 and 10 is the interior lighting circuit.

Hope that you sort the problem soon.

Gary,

I know that time has moved on a bit since your message, but if you've still got a Zigg CF8 manual scanned in could you e-mail me a copy? New campavan owner with little idea about electrics and no manual! Cheers.
