I also have a suspect X70. The 12v system is working, but the battery does not seem to be taking a charge any longer. Changed the battery as it was a very old one but the meter does not show a charge on the new battery either. I noticed that the green LED inside the X-70 is not lit anymore. Does this indicate that it is no longer working? Any help from anyone would be great. I priced up a new unit - £115, not cheap.

Vic did you get anywhere with your X-70?

John

I have fitted a battery condition meter which shows whether or not the battery is receiving a charge and the condition of the battery. Charging a flat battery puts additional strain on a charger.
My first impression from what you have described is to check fuses. The problem is access, first check power is going to the charger then check with a volt meter 12v power is coming out. If power is going in but nothing out then problem is within the charger which will have an inline fuse which may have blown if the battery is breaking down and overloading the charger. If this does not remidy the problem it could well cost you a new charger but make sure the battery is sound or your problems could start all over again.

Hi Tony, thanks for the advice.

I have removed the X70 from the van and managed to remove the pop rivets from the case. I checked the internal fuse, 5A and tested ok. However, what I did find was a blown R48 resistor. I have read on this forum that this resistor has given problems for others.

Does anyone know what resistor type and values I need?

Thanks

John

I would suggest you ring Zig on 01527 556715 and see if they recommend an alternative resistor. I believe that this resistor is probably a 10amp 600ohm but more important is the cause that made it blow simply replacing it may not be the answer. These are also used to control feedback in amplification and the operation of relays so quite common.
I have found Zig to be very helpful it would be very wise to check with them first as they be able to identify the cause of the blow, they may even send you a replacement resistor.

Good luck,
Tony

Hi, can anyone tell me which model my Zig unit is? it's fitted to a Swift Challenger.
The description is as follows:
The top panel is marked '12 volt distribution', and it has four fuses, Output 1, 2, 3 and one marked fridge 12Volt.
The middle panel is marked 'Battery' and has one 5A fuse and an illuminated rocker switch to the right of it with a logo of a car above the switch and a caravan below.
The lower panel is marked 'Mains Control' it has a rocker switch to the left with a fuse below it. the switch is marked 'charger'
there is a rocker switch to the right of that marked 'Fridge' with a fuse below it.
there is a Swift logo between these switches.
The markings are: 2S4V ........Style FPC....... TYPE T..... Symphony Systems.
The reason I ask is because I would like to find a manual for it.
Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give me.

Hi, I have a german caravan with a Zig cf8 setup on board,

Im sure the previouse owner fiddled with the wiring and although everything works, when we hook up to mains i dont know what is happening. the only indication i get is that when i turn on the 12v switch on the unit the lights get brighter,

If you have the manual would you be kind enough to send me a copy.
