Hi John - I think in your situation it is the installation of a lesiure battery and some simple changes to the caravan wiring which is required rather than the installation of a "Zig" unit. The basic controls are already in your van as they already operate the 12V supply which comes from a transformer unit supplied by the mains . Hobby dealers supply and fit these "kits" but no doubt one of the Hobby experts will be along and give a better explanation / details.

Thanks

Did everyone suffer a power failure or only power failure in your van?

If only your van suffered power failure, then the trip switch on the hook up box may have gone off, this happens if you are using too many electric things at once, e.g. kettle,+ telly,+ fan heater.

If this happens then you just open the outside hook up box and reset the trip switch, site owners can do this for you if you ask.

Regards
Carol.

did you have a lot of other electrical things on when the lights failed?

if so try switching on lights and nothing else and see what happens.

Trip switch on hook up switches off if you use too many electrical stuff at once.

try the lights on their own with no other electrical items in operation.

The lights may have failed because you were using a lot of other electrical items, and trip switch went off.

Scott - Peter Everard was the original company who made " Zig " units, the " Zig" being a brand name. This implies your unit is quite old. As per my reply to Ronnie on his query, let me check things out for you.

Thanks
Barry

Scott - As I thought, the MCF5 is very old, my technical contact reckons that there are no details / technical records of it available to current Zig staff.

Sorry can't seem to help any more at moment

Thanks
Barry

Ronnie - the SP7 is simply a 12V distribution panel. If you need a manual, the general zig control panel manual on my website should cover it. However you state that the switch is connected to "mains" Please can you clarify on this as this switch is only for the 12V system and should select between car battery when towing, off and caravan leisure battery ( which of course could be connected to a mains chager). It is possible to get a replacement switch but there were two versions of this panel, the vertical SP7V and horizontal SP7H and they have slightly different switches so need to know which. If you are interested then please email me ( link off my website ) confirming above and I will get prices etc.

Thanks
Barry
