Netherland Dwarves!
They're the smallest, cutest little things and I will eventually find one...
*Sigh*
They only grow up tp 2.5kg.
And come in pretty much the most varied range of colours.

Lionhead rabbits are quite small, they need daily grooming though for they have long fur. I had a Lop eared years ago, very friendly bunny, but he did get to be a big boy, especially since he was supposed to be a dwarf lop!!LOL!

Dwarf lops are def best for children ( they say netherland dwarfs as they are small , but they can be nervy ) a dwarf or butterfly lop male is generally best , females can ( not always ) be tempremental ( hormones ) giants are great if you have the time and space for them , my bunny advice is , if in a hutch ( which must be big enough for them to stand up in ) always keep it out of the elements ( wind , rain and sun ) and keep right outside the nearest door so you always see and interact with it ( not shoved up the end of the garden ) and rabbit proof the garden so it can spend long periods running round , without escaping somewhere ( supervised though not just left out alone ) a large cat will chance it's arm with a tiny bunny , and clean out at least once a week , pref twice , we have horses so always used good barley straw for bedding ,and good quality hay , plus large water containers , always changed daily , we always used burgess supa rabbit pellets , not mix ( that way they have to eat the lot , not pick out their favourite bits ) plus occasional greens and carrots , not lettuce , good hay is the most important and of course fresh grass ( not mown )

I have a Dutch rabbit called Sukie and he the most loving comical Rabbit you could ever meet! lol! He does figure of eight round peoples feet when they come to visit and likes nothing better than snuggling up by the fire. If you do get a rabbit i really recomend that you have a house rabbit - you can teach it him to use a litter tray and their personality really comes out :)

It depends on the breed and how you would like it to interact with you. If you want a large breed with access to a large garden then a German or French Lop have lovely temperaments but a large rabbit. They will quite easily potter around the garden and will not run away when trying to pick them up. A smaller breed is easier to pick up but tends to be a little more flighty. An ideal childs rabbit is the mini lop or dutch but not as solid and steady as the larger breeds. The Netherland Dwarf can be a little temperamental but bought from the right breeder can make a super little pet.

I have had a few breeds over the years and i have to say the lops are the greatest. They are so affectionate and have very cheeky comical personalitys. Wether you go for a french lop (giant) or a mini lop (smallest) you wont be disapointed. The dwarf lops are a good pet for children but be aware that dwarfs are a medium sized rabbit and not small. They weigh around 5 - 6 lbs fully grown where a mini lops usually weighs around 3lbs. I love the lops xx

Well i love french lops but they are not suitable for children because they grow big and heavy. I have lionheads as well and they are great

Dutch Rabbits would be my advice, they dont grow very big though bigger than netherlands but i have 9 0f them and not one has scratched bitten or is uneasy at all and i breed them so all the young are so tame and even my does have never been hormonal.
I would say though that getting pets from breeders is the best option if your concidering getting a rabbit a small breeder (like myself) as we have time to scoalise the young and handle them daily to get them really tame, most pet shops get their stock from "suppliers" that use the brood does as machines to churn out babies until they just die due to the stress and surely the longevity of the young will be shortend and many are inbred.

I would personally say Lionheads though it depends on the individual rabbit, i have a lionhead, a chinchilla and 2 dutch X Lionheads (mother and daughter)
And all 3 of them are the loveliest things ever,
My chinchilla will sit there and lick you til her tongue dries out My Dutch X love a cuddle and are so affecttionate and my lionhead communicates with you in little grunts and loves a cuddle.
I also take in and rehome rescue rabbits so have experienced a variety of different breeds, all of which have been nice.
The only rabbit ive met who had to be handled with thick gloves and could not be allowed near your ankles, (as he lunges and had been known to hang off peoples arms where he doesn't release his bite) is a Netherland Dwarf called Ozzy at my veterinary college in Chelmsford. He really is a nasty piece of work!
But it depends if they are handled from a young age.
