It should be ok. Try to do a scan every week if you use the computer alot. Especially if you go to some weird sites!!. General browsing IE: hotmail,banks and stuff shouldn't have spyware but you never know. I use SPYWARE TERMINATOR and had no issues so far rather than AVG 8.

Hi guys....i got new avg 8 and its findin trackin cookies but nothin else..so far....how do you know if the songs you download from limewire are 'iffy'?? and is there a way to spot them before you download them??

The only thing i can say is look at all the same songs and find the largest file. As to know if they are 'iffy' i couldn't / dont know. Generally songs are ok, its the other rubbish on there that is the problem. Oh 1 thing when they download go to the limewire folder ( C:programs\limewire etc) right click each file or whole lot and scan that way < if this is available with AVG 8>

You can scan any file, including limewire songs with avg 8, before opening, I never open any downloads until scanned. As I said in an earlier post avg gave me a warning about two songs even before I scanned. They were supposedly two normal songs, looked ok, right mbs. I very rarely use limewire, just for an occasional single, it`s useless for albums. I use mininova, and the good thing about it is you can click on comments to find out if the album, film etc is ok.

Hi...thanks for that advice guys...i scan every few days anyhow..so hopefully shud be ok....had one or two songs from limewire that havent played at all...but like you pat321 i only get the odd one or two from limewire...might give this mininova a go if you find that one to be ok....thanks again....

not tried avg myself but ive installed it for folk and they like it, personally i use xoftspy-se along side windows firewall and a little common sense while online.
i never ever use limewire and always read through the comments on mininova if theres no comments i dont download it, or i use a private tracker like demonoid they seem to be more on the ball of removing infected torrents.
also be careful of clicking random links on forums and such because they can leave you nasty's too.

AVG`S official site is grisoft, there is no mention of "2009" on their site.
AVG8 is a recent release, so I don`t think grisoft have released another version yet.
I would not trust downloads offering AVG 2009.

Hello. When downloading programs such as AVG, AdAware etc., always go to the website of the originator and not a site you have not heard of, or don't know you can trust; you don't know what else they might contain.
